"Ed's Red" Homemade Bore Cleaner question?

I've been asking a lot of questions today even though I am reluctant to ask for help.

I'm wonder about this home brew bore cleaner known as "Ed's Red". (I think many are famliar with "Ed's Red".)

My question is:

What fouling will this solvent cure? Carbon only? Or copper as well? Leading possibly too?

Also, is it okay to use this on other parts? I.e.; bolt, receiver, piston, etc?

this stuff is great, it will loosen carbon buildup and help to prevent rust, but is not as good in that aspect if you have been shooting corrosive ammo. I use it to clean after shooting noncorrosive ammo all the time.

So it's only effective on carbon fouling? Not for copper and leading?

And I assume it's also okay to use on other parts such as the receiver, bolt, etc?

It does nothing for copper or lead. Consider the ingredients.
