Handgun Safety Cert. fee where does the money go?

Just curious as to whom receives the fee for the H.S.C.

Does the state gov. receive the money?
The dealer from which you are taking the H.S.C.?........

The HSC instructor gets $10 and the state gets $15 for the actual HSC card.
I hate people that are full of hate.

It's not illegal to tip for PPT!

IIRC, the HSC instructor purchases the blank cards from the state at $15 each. Then, when you take the test, you pay the instructor $25. So, he makes $10 after you factor in the $15 he already spend for the blank card.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

And, by the way, the cards are purchased in sets of 10 only, so someone who only supplies occasional tests has money tied up for as long as it takes to issue 10 cards. The study guides that most places hand out cost .50 each as well.

So it isn't like this is a money maker for anyone, including the state who has to administer the program, print materials, track card issuance and instructors all for the $15.00 fee they get per card.

The whole thing was designed as an additional barrier to firearms ownership.

All of this brought to you by a full time legislature that has too much time on their hands. Your tax dollars at work! What is that saying about "idle hands"?

            That makes utter sense, DVSmith.

Makes sense in the fact that the gov would indeed do something such as that for just that reason. Does not make any sense logically but I'm sure we're all in agreement on that.

            Thanks for letting me see.

yeah 15 bucks each for a lousy piece of paper, haha. So where does that 15 bucks really go? Most of it right into the veins of the money junkies in Sacramento!

This is unconstitutional. You don't have to take a test and pay to vote. You should not have to pay to exercise your constitutional rights. There needs to be a lawsuit filed on this.

I'd guess that that is in the works, but that they are waiting for incorporation first.
