This. This is exactly it. They don?t know much, and yeah they can take forever to do the paperwork, but they?re nice and try to put up an atmosphere that?s welcome to new people, who are their biggest clientele.

With LGS?s, they cater to people who know what they?re talking about and know what they want-and I think there?s fewer of those types.

When did turner's start asking to hold your driver license when you want to handle a gun? I've purchased plenty of firearms from them during the years and when I went to the Santa Clarita location they wanted to see an ID.

If Turners has a gun you want, and it's on sale for a good price, then buy it.

The challenge comes when they advertise a used gun on their site. Even if it says "NEW", call them up ahead of time, because there's a VERY good chance they sold it (and potentially the buyer already picked it up!), but they decided to leave it up on their website. Yeah, I get it... it's a manual process. But at the same time, it's their responsibility to be accountable and accurate.

Wandered into a Guitar Center in Rancho Cucamonga... all the acoustic hangers had locks, as did many other easily stolen items on the sales floor... a Sherriff pulled up the same time I did, something about a stolen bass, and they were talking about a second one with the responding officer.

A LGS near me had a Huyundai driver through the front door in the wee morning hours, 4 perps hopped out, grabbed whatever they could and headed to a waiting getaway veicle(s). Another LGS got hit the same night but their security gates held. Out of state plates, gand looking perps...

CA gave criminals a license to steal, and ALL retail stores are having to raise their defenses. This is CA NOW, not the CA most of us grew up in...

Turner's tends to take longer on the paperwork for PPT's but haven't had any screwups (unlike a certain other big box SG store with the initials SW...), and I've been in and out both super fast and interminably slow (doing a firearm PPT trade on a VERY busy day).

I will say that they saved a PPT"deal" more than once by being able to do the paperwork without throwing out arbitrary rules and knowing the actual applicable laws on some "unique" but 100% CA legal firearms.

I have learned to shop around if possible if doing an out of my local area PPT, as some FFL's are making up some pretty crazy crap... I've ended up at Turner's many times after calling around. You wouldn't believe some of the wacky "conditions and fees" I've been quoted, or how many shops are terrified of doing transfers of guns that might look a little scary.... recently that SW place in Fresno stated that they no longer transfer off roster PPT's!?

I guess what I am saying is they are doing something right...

But they took over the biggest gunshop in southern AZ a year or 2 ago, and not only are they still in business, but they're opening a NEW store near Phoenix. I don't understand it. Their advertised prices are TERRIBLE. Do they give you a free handy with every purchase? What's their secret?
A lot of local gun stores also have terrible prices too. These larger chain stores beat them on selection. I buy more online but I do use my Cabelas points on new guns also.

Only purchased one gun from turners, several years ago got a glock 19 with factory NS for $500. Not a bad price at all. Paperwork was fairly quick. Did a PPT at turners once when i got my glock 43, also not too long of a wait. Whatever.

I bought my Springfield 1911 mil spec on sale there for $650. Bought the 9mm target for $900. Bought the Henry Golden Boy for $460.

I don't see those deals there anymore.

Turner’s was decent way back in the day with their walk in warehouse off Reservoir St in Chino. Was really buzzing around the time of Roberti Roos

I've bought guns from Turners going back to the mid 80s. When 2AZone opened I stopped buying from them. When you compare the 2 it's like night and day.

It takes an hour or more to even start a dros at Turners. I've gone to 2AZone and finished a dros in 20 minutes...
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I can vouch for 2A Zone. Awesome Customer Service. As their business grows, I?d like to see them fill the IE vacuum for reloading components (in particular at the Riverside store), especially for us cranky aging shotgun shooters!

It's nice to have Phillips around but the 2A Upland store is a lot closer for me. I never gave it much thought but your right. It would be nice to see 2AZone step up their game.

Phillip?s is my go to spot for powder, and Rick has always been more than helpful with advice/help with my Mec presses.

However, I live in Berdoo, and it would be nice to have a shop closer by with killer costumer service that helped feed my shotshell reloading addiction?..

I can?t speak for Turners outside of CA since I live in CA and have to follow CA rules when it comes to purchasing firearms.

They generally have the best prices if the gun is on sale. I?m only talking about new guns. Out of state guns are usually cheaper but with FFL fees, it usually ends up higher. At least that?s been my experience.

I do try to purchase from LGS but more often than not, they try to sell at MSRP or more. But if prices are the same I always go with LGS. And a lot definitely have employees that need to work on their customer skills. As others have stated, Turners employees might not be deeply knowledgeable about firearms but generally they don?t come across as arrogant condescending firearm experts like some LGS I?ve experienced.
