First day carrying concealed

Eee Gadds!Eventually you'll forget it's there, but then feel naked without it. While getting out of my truck at the gas station, I had my roscoe pop outta my holster, which I then drop-kicked across the cement and underneath my truck and into the median of the station. At least two or three guys saw me, but CCW isn't uncommon 'round these parts..
Did your gun get damaged or scratched up?Comment

If you feel like that, just repeat to yourself: “The sheep are clueless” or some variation. If you were printing so badly they could read the lettering on the slide, odds are they still would not notice.Well, I didn?t shoot anything or get arrested or anything like that. It was rather uneventful, except I felt like everyone was looking at me. I went to a movie and went to a hamburger restaurant and came home. I?m going to be venturing out again next weekend. Probably going to a Shopping Center. My wife told me she needs to get a few things. My wife had no idea I was carrying concealed.
All in all it was a successful outing.
Have you been carrying around the house? If not, I recommend it. Benefits include: mentally becoming accustomed to the gun, training up your back (more critical with bigger guns), and practice keeping it concealed under all conditions.
You will “learn” to forget the gun is even on you until you think about it. Give it a few weeks so long as you consistently carry.
Watch out for back pain and sciatica. This is called “gun fighter’s hip”. It is very painful. I developed it after two decades of carry. Start with a heavy belt. I recommend Kore Essentials 8# belt. I tried heavy leather belts, but they all became weak and floppy over time (even steel core belts). It easily holds up a 1911 Government or S&W 629 and my back doesn’t have to compensate using its strength, resulting in soreness and eventual sciatic relapse.
Also keep in mind belt tightness. Gun thickness and weight affects this. For me, in sciatic recovery, I have to keep the belt loose enough to not aggravate anything while holding up the gun. Most belts have 1” loop spacing, which is not enough. Kore Essentials (and other) have 1/4” adjustments that allow for much more flexibility. I can balance the looseness vs weight problem and carry a full sized gun without issue. If I feel something start to tweak, I press the lever and let the belt out one notch and solve the problem instantly.Last edited by tomrkba; 08-09-2023, 2:00 PM.Biden's

This is why holster retension is essential. I have used many holsters, but the top list is:Eventually you'll forget it's there, but then feel naked without it. I also suggest carrying around the house. It just might even come in handy one day when the ferals are out feraling in your neighborhood. If you feel like that, just repeat to yourself: ?The sheep are clueless? or some variation. I love those ratcheting belts. I have a Nextbelt, but it's nowhere near stiff enough to support a holster and gun. I have a fairly thick leather belt that I got from (cant remember), and that was great, but the thickness of the belt made it difficult to thread thru the belt loops on the holster.Les Baer 1911: Premier II w/1.5" Guarantee, Blued, No FCS, Combat Rear, F/O Front, Checkered MSH & SA Professional Double Diamond Grips

I come from the future (2037).
CA law now states that you must show your CCW badge to anyone who comes within a six foot radius of you and that you must announce your presence as a CCW holder over the PA system at any large business establishment before engaging in any commercial activity. (*Signed into law by our esteemed co-Governors Jenna Pelosi and Gavin Newsome, Jr).

Sounds like the store policy at the Vacaville Guns, Fishing and Other Stuff.Comment

Same here. Got tired of carrying a wallet about 10 years ago and went to this.

Sits in my left front pocket VERY comfortably and my LCR .357 in my right pocket. Easily holds 8 credit card type things on the one side and up to about 20 bills on the other. The clips are spring loaded and they last me about 2-3 years each.

I was a rookie cop and a newlywed. I just finished the Swing Shift and my young bride asked if I can grab a six pack on the way home.
I stop at a 7-11 in Alhambra at midnight. I brought my PBR and while exiting a old drunk lady does a "slip and fall" in front of me. I help her up (apparently exposing my pistol) I get in my car and drive away.
An APD Unit pulls a left turn in behind me. We are traveling east on Valley Blvd. A second APD Unit makes a right turn behind both of us. I know they will be doing a "Felony Stop" when they get a good spot picked out. They both make a U-turn and I continued home. I realize my personal car plates, if ran on NCIC will come back with "Sworn Officer - Address Confidential". So they decided to give the rookie a break.
