    Big 5 stopped selling guns?

I just walked into big 5 in sunnyvale. They had no firearms on display. I asked the employee (young girl) if they stopped selling guns. She said yes. I asked if only this store and when. She replied with She thought it was all of california because of some new law and they stopped selling guns as of the last week or so.

Anyone here know what's going on?

There is no Big5 in FL and I kind of miss it. Bought several long guns from them in San Diego before I moved. I still get their week add by email. There are firearms in this weeks add. Their website shows "sporting arms" under hunting tab with lots of long guns. They stopped handgun sales several years back though.

I was in Big-5 in Sonora last week and they still had long guns and ammo for sale.

Some Big 5 locations cannot sell firearms due to no FFL, local regs and such.

          What he said.

In addition, some Big 5 stores have voluntarily stop selling firearms, because they are unable to hire/retain employees that are eligible to legally sell firearms/ammunition.

So most likely the employee(s) with the certs quit or the individual store decided to stop selling for some reason.

I was in the Big Bear Big 5 last week and they had a fair number of firearms in stock.

The sunnyvale big 5 has always sold firearms. Maybe sunnyvale made some ordinance that disincentivised big 5 from selling firearms. The sunnyvale FFL U.S. Firearm Co. Is still selling firearms. Great shop/gunsmith BTW.

The ones I've been to in Orange County still are selling long guns and ammo. Though their selection has gone down in years. They used to have some cool .22LR clones, I got a Sig 522 and GSG .22 STG44 from them.

Big 5 here in the Salt Lake Valley has minimal guns and ammo. A shadow of their former selves.

Sunnyvale has been trying to stop anything related to guns and ammo sales for many years. They had a local law way before the state did about having all your DL info recorded just to buy ammo. That store hasn?t had much for years anyway.

I was in the RSM Big 5 this weekend and the had minis in stock. I would have looked at one, but my wife was there and she would be quick to enforce the buget.

If I was in SW FL, I wouldn’t GAF; you can buy via private sale w/o an FFL!

I imagine it’s something like what happened with Walmart. First, a few stores in more urban areas stopped selling certain guns, then they stopped selling guns and ammo altogether. Then, more and more stores stopped selling guns and ammo.
