How can you compare the 1911 to a glock? Okay so you are going to compare a 1911 price range anywhere from $300-$2000+ to a Glock $700MAX.

This topic as you admitted already is beating a dead horse. You cannot compare a $2000 gun to a $700 gun. Well yes you can but is it really fair? We might as well start a 9mm vs. 40 vs. 45acp thread.

Plus "better" is all in the eye of the beholder. I can say oh a 1911 is better for xyz reasons. Another person will say a Glock is better for abc reasons why.

I also like the fact that the Kimber is heavier. I don't like the light weight of the Glocks!

            Again, just my opinion!
You are right, it's your opinion and your opinion may not make it better. You say, that Glocks feel cheap and it's light. Glock is made VERY WELL. When SHTF and I have one handgun let it be a Glock. You can throw it against the wall, put it in mud, drag it behind a truck for miles and it will still work. Will a 1911 do that? IDK I haven't seen anyone do a test like that before. Glocks are lightweight? Well in a lot of people's mind THAT IS A HUGE PLUS!

Like I said "better" and this thread is just going to be opinions.

I'd trust my life to a Glock way before a 1911. I'd love to see a 1911 make it through this: http://www.theprepared.com/index.php...ask=view&id=90

Wow Tht that is actually pretty crazy! That's the perfect point. Here is a good video too if you want to watch it.

Do that to a 1911 and see if it will still fire.

Still 1911 or Glock is still a fine gun but I pick a glock but would like a 1911 also.

I love the 1911, but had some reliability issues and I later got a Kimber and had few reliability issues, but I lost my confidence in the 1911 and totally have confidence in the sloppy glock.

But, when you're shooting 3-7 yards, which is the typical confrontation distance, who cares about accuracy. Function is king.

                          Better for what?

To me they're both tools to be used. Would you use a hammer to loosen a screw? Nope, you'd use a screwdriver. Same thing for the 1911 vs Glock.
Use what you need to accomplish the task at hand.

Cant we like both? I have some 1911's that make grown men drool and I have Glocks that out shoot them. So what. Buy both and shoot twice as much.

i recently sold my kimber... I was a bit more accurate with it but sold it and kept my glock19. Why? I loved the kimber to death but anytime something ever happens or I carry for whatever reason... it's my glock. Truth is I feel my glock is more reliable then my 1911. But when I can afford another one i'll buy another 1911.
