Metal pistol mags are hung by a magnetic strip on the inside of my safe door. Rifle mags an glock mags are in plastic containersComment

It all depends on what you consider storage.
Easy access $$$ or pack it away $
At this time do not have to deal with over a hundred.
Found these magazine pouches $7.00 each that happen to work on my safe door.
Made them removable but clearance is tight when closed.
My safe has rifles on left and handgun shelf on right.
Keep one in firearm and a few extra next to pistols.

Made little loops out of metal clothes hangers. Print labels and used velcro with sticky backing.

Hooks from Home Depot.
Can just screw pouch into door and not have them removable.

The ammo can with foam insert storage would be my next choice.
label the can on the outside.

Add up how much you $$ on the magazines.
Spending a little time and money to keep them rust free is worth it.Comment

I only have 8 handguns, so not nearly as many as the OP, but probably have the same number of magazines.
Aside from the one that stays at my bedside in a lockbox and the one I intend to CCW, the others live in soft pistol cases with 3 mags in each. Rest of the mags are stored in these cases pictured below. Makes it easy to grab and go if I'm heading to a class.
I also like the simple and economical idea of clear shoebox-size totes and ziplock bags.

A bit excessive for 72 magazines.Get one of those lockable construction job boxes. This is what I had.

Don't get me wrong, I have one of those Rigid boxes, but keep my ammo in it, but not using it for empty magazine storage.sigpicComment

I have them stacked neatly in the safe. But also have some stored in Molle pouches and ammo cans. I also added magnetic strip under a shelf in the safe to hold most of my metal mags.
I been contemplating the MTM plastic ammo can with foam cut outs, but space is an issue for me."A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

My ready to "go" mags are on a shelf in the gun safe loaded.
Extras I store in fat 50 ammo cans. Also in the safe.Comment
