The employee at Riflegear must have thanked me 10 times when I whipped out my ccw to start a dros. Said it made his job so much easier.

The point being, if a military ID can be used in place of a Real ID, why can’t it be used. If someone doesn’t have a Real ID, they can use their passport for a firearms purchase so why not a military ID. As the wording for the Real ID states:

You need to show a Real ID driver’s license or identification card, or other federally approved identification (passport or military ID).

Passport Or military ID but a local gun store will accept a passport but not a military ID. It just doesn’t make sense why they take one but not the other when they are both approved for use in place of a Real ID.

CCW is not a substitute for driver license and has nothing to do with this thread.
ATF Form 4473: If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver, not a handgun or long gun.

Yes, you do need a valid ID, but a valid CCW can be used as verification of residence and can also be used in lieu of the FSC.

I DROS'd a gun last month using only those two documents.

CA should issue one or the other, not both.

I need a passport to travel internationally. Adding a passport card adds ZERO inconvenience.

Going to the DMV adds a lot of inconvenience.
