Documents to buy handguns changed ?

I searched but couldn't find .... sorry had to ask.

Went to Turners on BF, selected the items and they said I need birth certificate or passport along with my DL that has Federal Limits apply on it or I need DL (real ID) to buy guns and this has been the case for last few years.

I have bought guns multiple times and the last time was June 21 and I don't recall ever having to show my passport/BC anytime before. Has this changed recently ?

      Handguns:
Real ID, proof of residence, FSC or CCW
      or
ID (federal limits apply), passport or birth cert, proof of residence, FSC or CCW
Been that way for a few years.

Been pretty standard practice for a while to be honest. Just get a Real ID and make your life easy.

Sh..xx I got my DL renewed online last yr and the prev one did not the Federal Limits Apply on it. That explains it. Is that DMV fault or mine ?

They don’t even accept a military ID as a form of Real ID.

DMV was just following current orders.

You have to specifically request Real ID, either in person or on-line at DMV.gov. There is a list of allowed documents you must provide. If you request it on-line, there is a question that asks if you plan to fly. Answer, "Yes" even if you don't plan to fly.

I did the application on-line, got a DMV appointment and took my documents with me. I was in and out in under an hour. (Depending upon your DMV record, you may have to take a knowledge test.)

Also, it's a good idea to add your residence address to your Vehicle registration (assuming you do not have a CCW). If you have AAA nearby, and you're a member, go in and they'll do it for it you--easy-peasy.

? "If you want nice fresh oats, you have to pay a fair price. If you are satisfied with oats that have already been through the horse, well, that comes a little cheaper."
