I feel that there's nothing worse than people who won't expand their horizons and try new stuff, most people (women in particular) who don't like guns try it once and they end up loving it and seeing the valuable self defense skill that you can get from it.sigpicComment

If you are dating, and she doesn't like guns, leave her immediately if she is not open to changing her mind. She doesn't have to love them. But, she should not hate them.
Doesn't matter how hot she is. Hot goes away.
Common values are your biggest indicator of long term success in a marriage. Different personalities is fine and even desired. One person can compensate for the other as you both gradually move to the middle. But, values are non-negotiable.

It's (marriage) both a two way and two lane street and the minute you start making everything you like and do more important than everything they like and do it's over and you just don't know it.
I don't care if someone likes guns or not, all I ask is that they support my rights which are also their rights. A lot of people support the RTKBA but don't "like" guns, they have other interests.
I have a right to leave my home and go where I want but that doesn't mean everyone else has to want to go there too. That's very different than someone saying I can't go outside in the first place.
.Let Go of the Status Quo!
Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?
Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.
Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.Comment

looking back, two things that i've learned:
1- don't pick a gun for her; let her pick what she wants.
2- don't force her to do drills that she didn't want to do; let her be and she'll eventually move in that direction.
best thing you can do is to show her how to operate a gun. guide her on proper stance, grip, sight alignment and such. then leave her alone. she will ask for help when she needs it and will for sure ask on how to improve her skill.Comment

this entirely depends on the woman, some have a sense for these things and do their own research, some defer to their husband's wisdom on the subject, which is in itself a kind of wisdom. much more preferable to going back to the gun shop multiple times because she either chose a full size beretta or a tiny snub nose for her first gun and regretted it after taking it to the rangelooking back, two things that i've learned:

Maybe it was their anniversary and the guy forgot so the girl was upsetWhere the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.

Growing up, my high school sweetheart (now wife) was a die-hard liberal. After 10+ years, she's slowly turned conservative, even with both of us living behind enemy lines in the true-blue territory.
I've always been into guns and she was strongly against the idea of it up until less than a year ago. I slowly taught her the basics of firearm safety handling at home (seeing how we have firearms in every room of the house), and brought her out to the BLMs on several occasions. Nowadays, she's not phased by the sight of my guns and in some cases (subcompact handguns and some .223 rifles); she's a better shot than me.
The moral of the story is; it's never too late to change someone's opinion. But rushing someone into it is not the right method. Ease them into it with comfortability handling the firearm, and start slow with low-recoil calibers. Once they get the comfortability aspect down, get the adrenaline rush from hitting their target, ante up to the bigger calibers. Over time, the comfortability builds; not just in shooting but in the presence of firearms. Never would I thought I would convince my wife to be onboard with firearms, but nowadays, she's always down for range days.Comment
