Well, this was a first for me at the range today.
Here goes. Arrived mid afternoon at a local range to test some recent adjustments. After parking, went to check in. There was a line. Unusual for that time of day nowadays.
As I'm waiting, there is a couple in front of me. Both in their mid/late 30's or so. He was doing all the talking so I was thinking maybe a date. Then based on the conversation I could tell they were "together".
However, based on her facial/body expressions, the range was the LAST place she looked like she wanted to be. More conversation and she mentioned her brother being in law enforcement and shooting with her father as well when she was younger (as the male said something like "see, you have experience"). I thought I heard her also say "she doesn't like guns", but shook it off thinking then WHY would you go to the range? Hard not to overhear when they are standing 2 feet in front of you.
As they check in, he tells the cashier they are shooting pistol and rifle. They pay, get their targets and off they go. I check in, pay and go grab some of my gear from the car.
On my last trip out to the car I see the woman heading towards the cashier's area and she looks like she was crying. Red faced, teary. I thought maybe they had a fight. Whatever. Finished grabbing my gear.
At my bench I realized I left my drink in the car, so walked backed to get that. At the same time I'm heading to my car, the couple are going up to the cashier. Guy has his hands full of his gear (rifle bag, pistol bag, ammo can, etc.) and she still looks all teary eyed. Now I had to be nosy and get the low down.
Guy tells the cashier "she doesn't feel comfortable" and they are not going to be shooting (I'm guessing he was trying to get his money back - BTW, he was a member based on the QA the casher asked and his answers as they charged her a member price - again, wife??).
I go to my car, get my drink and as I'm heading in, they are heading out.
So I'm thinking a few things to myself:
In any case, I had never seen that reaction to the range before. Now adding that to the list of...interesting.

So I'm thinking a few things to myself:
- Since he's a member, he's into pew pews, especially if he brought rifle/pistol to shoot.
- If that's a GF and not yet a wife...RUN. You will NEVER enjoy your pew pews again. You will always be solo @ the range!
- If that is your wife, OMG, you are going to be one miserable pew pew owner after today's traumatic experience. Tears...over just seeing/hearing pew pews in action (my honey bunch would give her the benefit of the doubt and say she probably had some very bad pew pew experience growing up that imprinted on her and now she's not a fan...but then why go to the range? Maybe to make her man happy? Who knows.
In any case, I had never seen that reaction to the range before. Now adding that to the list of...interesting.
