Be honest, you body armor fan boys don't have a wife, kids, or own a home, right?

I'm guessing, incel living in your mom's basement? How'd I do?

I'm married, own my home, and have a plate carrier and Hesco L210 plates...

But then again, I may be the outlier...

Save the dough. The powers the be have figured out that head shots are more prudent.

What about your husband? Does he shoot?

(I'm joking. If that's what you're into, have fun)

You need a helmet w/ neck shoulders and back protection

I thought I saw a youtube once of steel armor shooting with anti-spall coating. They put balloons around it, and some did break but only when you got real close.

I haven't investigated steel armor much, I seem to recall thin kevlar pouches to hold the plates, that should catch spall. I kept meaning to research it because I live in hot weather that might damage UHMWPE, but I've been too lazy.

Some of the cheaper plates that protect against ap with spalling have great results, the vids are out there, I just wish they made them larger than 10x12. I know they make 11x14, mi8ght need to get some in that size but still leaves lots of open areas.

Both of these vids feature the plates I bought

When he was talking about the failure drill - 2 to body then switch to the head, he asked the class why do we train for this drill?

He went one to say body armor is everywhere. He asked me to stand up and show my vest. He went on to say you have been around your fellow classmate for 2+ days. How many notices the armor while shooting, breaks or lunchtime.

Long way to say - I have home armor. Groin and neck protection.

And other armor to be the grey man and wander about in life-
                      Suit & tie
                      Shorts and flip flops

                      Be the grey man
More of that than the other.

Who notices someone at a range with a gun? No one. Who notices someone with a gun in a grocery store (California)? Everyone.

Body armor has it's place and for almost everyone who has it, that place isn't the place where you will need it unless it's civil unrest or natural disaster and you happen to be home or near your car and able to:

                      1. Get the armor
                      2. Do so before getting schmeared

No doubt, some people might wear body armor (not LE, just civies) but yeah, you can pick them out a mile away as there is no way to hide the restrictions on movement despite being able to hide the body armor. Asking friends if they can detect you are wearing body armor is like asking them if they can detect you carrying a firearm. They are so used to seeing something they couldn't tell anyway. Just because someone out there doesn't say anything doesn't mean they aren't fully aware you are wearing body armor or carrying.

Is it a good idea to have some? Yes. It's just like it's a good idea to have a bunch of extra ammo, extra firearms and extra a lot of things. What are the chances you'll be where they are when you need it most? Nearly zero. Trouble isn't going to wait for you to get back to the car, or knock on your door in the middle of the night.

Just some reality to consider. If as we hear and read so often, when seconds count the police are only minutes away, in those seconds, if you aren't already wearing body armor you are almost certainly not going to be able to get it before it's all over.
