    A Yugo M48. Great rifle.

Unfortunately it was in the back of a friends truck when he rolled it off a cliff. I never saw the thing again.

      18. Big 5 Marlin 30-30, later traded it for a Colt AR 15 as CA was headed into the second ban at the time.

My first was also a Colt SP1, when I was 17. $189 from a little gun shop in Santa Monica. A 1970 production date, still in our collection today. At the time, stupid CA law allowed a 17 YO to buy firearms, but not ammo. My dad bought ammo for me along with a RCBS Rock Chucker reloading press. I still have some of those reloads in my ammo collection.

I was in New Mexico on my 18th birthday. Picked up an Uzi from the local pawn shop.

Semi auto carbine, it was the 80s.

17yrs old and convinced my mom to buy me the AR7, because it was cool and I think one of the old James Bond movie he used to shoot down an airplane

Crappy reliability. Works great with factory 10rds, but those plastic 25 Ramline magazine was hit and miss. Decent accuracy with a take down barrel, I even put a scope on it and dreamed about the pistol version.

Sigh... lost the rifle in college. Had it replaced of course, but its just not the same.

When I was eleven, my parents gave me a single shot Remington .22 for Christmas. Two years later, my dad took me the the gun shop that used to be on MCRD San Diego where he bought me a Ruger Single-Six with the magnum cylinder.

The first gun I purchased was a Ruger Mark 1 in Lexington VA in 1969.

Mine is my namesake. Bought myself a standard P226R in .40 for a b-day present for myself at age 21 in 2008. Still have it, and shoot it occasionally, has maybe close to 5k rounds through it so far, great gun.

Longs, as in the chain Longs? I never knew they sold guns back in the day. We always went to Thrifty when I was a kid, can't recall if Thrifty sold guns?

Bought my first shotgun the day I turned 18 at at the Kmart a block from my house. An actually very well made Brazilian single shot 20 ga., still have it and have introduced many clay shooters to busting their first clay with it. I found it's big brother, exact same model in 12 ga. at the Ventura Gun Show, back when they actually sold guns, about 2014, for $50.00. Cheaper than the $69.00 I paid for the 20 ga new decades earlier. It had barely ever been shot, was like brand new, how often do you get to buy a nice shotgun for $50.00?!?
