As for you thinking I'm a crying whining person who thinks I'm entitled to what I want...well, when you are a paying customer, and you're trying to resolve the situation and the FFL you're dealing with is being a total jerk about everything...even when I am trying to do a label to for shipping. I stated I did not know how to do those things as I've never had to deal with that."

    You ARE whinning!

You had the opportunity to resolve the problem but you irrationally made it worse.

Again, if you don't know how to do something, then usually you have to pay someone to do it. AND GUESS WHAT, IT IS NEVER CHEAP!

Suck up buttercup and go make it right. It is YOU who might be a whole lot worse off than just dealing with a grumpy business owner if you don't get the situation handled.

I dreamed of owning a (insert off roster gun here)...

Oh yeah....then the earth splits open with me on one side and the (off roster gun) on the other. Then appeared a large red-glowing pit with gavin newscum, diane frankenstein and governor "brown the drain" at the bottom of it, waving their pitchforks at me.

OP - it sounds like in various ways, you F'd this up. In nearly every way it could be screwed up, you managed to do it.

$60 was peanuts for the FFL to bail you out. You should have paid it with a smile on your face and moved on. Now it seems too late for that - and that's all on you.

And the ATF will laugh and laugh and laugh if you try and bother them with this.

This is incorrect. The date on the label doesn't matter as long as no claim for a refund has been made. I have used priority mail labels days before and weeks after the "mailing date" printed on the label and never had a problem.

OP's sense of entitlement is off the scale. OP should be renamed Karen. Way more suitable name.

Guys like this is one of the reasons I am retiring sooner. When I started 10 years ago it was not so bad. But it got worse every year. I have to blame Amazon Prime because ever since that increased in popularity and other companies copied the overnight service and no questions asked refund policy more Californians act like the OP. It is not a majority. I would say in the last year 1 out of 100 customers were like this. But time is money and when you get 1 guy like this monopolizing your time and not understanding the wasted time it crushes your willingness to run a business. 1 bad apple ruins the basket.

A transfer fee is priced based on a certain amount of time it takes to complete the entire process. Say $50 should cover about 1 hour of work. This OP based on his story looks like he wasted at least 2 hours. That includes the ffl having to stop to take his calls, talk to him in person, open boxes, log it, paperwork, invoice, etc. All the profit is lost if this process is not done like 99.9% of transfers.

I have to question the OPs intellect. How hard is it to estimate a box of mags? The USPS does not have to weigh anything in front of them. The flat rate boxes do have weight limitations that are very high but has nothing to do with he price. SO just tell the clerk the box weighs 6lbs. It might only weigh 2 lbs when it is weighed but that weight is more for making sure the trucks are not overburdened. WHen I ship stuff in those flat rate boxes I don't bother to weigh or just guess. A typical handgun I put 7lbs. Box of mags 2-4lbs based on qty of mags. When Itake the box to the post office the clerks weighs and it is always less than I guess but has zero influence on shipping as it makes sure the truck is not overweight.

$60 for his time is fair. I have guys that ship guns to me usps without my permission and I tell them USPS usually won't deliver long boxes to me. I have to pick them up at the post office. They think I can just drive down there and pick it up free. No. I charge $100 due to lost work running errands. I don't stand in a line for free. I don't ship for free. Want me to box up your stuff? Sure. $50 for 30 minutes of my lost time selling or working on other stuff. I'm not a charity. But this OP thinks his transfer fee covers anything outside the transfer. I've had guys like this get all upset and demand I ship th egun back to the sender. I tell them no problem and charge them the transfer fee. They get upset that they never transferred anything and I tell them the gun did not teleport into my hands. I charge a transfer fee to whoever gets it including the sender.

ATF will not bother with this. The gun belongs to the FFL. It is a civil matter if the FFL keeps it. One customer that contacted ATF and local police claiming I stole his gun lost his gun rights by falsifying a police report and he got a restraining order for electronic harassment. I had my lawyer and ATF tell my local police to leave me alone or they would be arresting the officer that tries to interfere with an FFL.

SO many guys like this make their problems an excuse for us to do things for free. I have empathy but I have a business to run. It is why I don't do layaway or take deposits. Almost every time the buyer has a broken car, dog at vet, rent late, mom sick, dad died, car accident and no longer have money. He chose his priorities. The gun was at the bottom of the list and understandingly so. But that has zero to do with a business.

The FFL is not innocent. But OP needs ot learn how ot deal with problems better. WHen you don't have any influence you don't start fights. I had to deal with an idiot SOCAL CA FFL that held my gun for ransom. CHarged me double their transfer fee to get it back. I said ok and as soon as I got my gun I went on the warpath and got all my money back. They could have got their normal fee but wanted to be jerks so they lost money doing it for free and paying for shipping.

US postage is technically legal tender.
You can turn in un-used postage years later and get cash back for it.
A USPS shipping label showing postage paid is worth that amount in cash if it's not used.
                              There is no expiration date.
