    LAX Ammo pricing!?!?!

I've been looking for some 556/223 ammo. Most local dealers charge around $0.80 per round, but on ammoseek I found vendors charging around $0.48 per round if you buy 1K.

One of those vendors from ammoseek was LAX Ammo and advertised $486.95 for 1,000 rounds of PMC 223 REM 55 GR FMJ-BT (223A). Great! I made a long drive to buy some - only to be quoted $685 for 1K rounds by the guy at the store.

I was confused by the $200 upcharge and was told the price of $486 was for out of state purchases only and if I was to buy it at the store, it would cost me $200 more.

I'm tryin to understand the logic - LAX sells it out of state for $486 and locally for $686? I told the clerk I would gladly buy it for the same price they sell out of state, but I'm not paying a 41% markup. Am I missing something? Why the 41% markup to local sales?

Overhead costs like inventory for maintaining stock at the local store (which is at prime LA locations) in contrast to cheaper warehouses for out-of-state/online sales.

That said - why go to LAX Ammo anyway? After the outrageous “markups” they did going into COVID, they have made their way into “Do Not Support” list.

LAX Ammo is just like cheaper than dirt.
        Ignore them.

It is well known that LAX ammo online pricing is different from actual in-store pricing. It is clearly started on their website.

I am no fan of their house brand ammo, but you can't blame them..

Wow nothing like like sticking it to the local customers.

Their "prime" LA location is in Inglewood. Overhead costs shouldn't be 40% markup... I'm voting with my wallet.

I understand having a little bit of a markup, but not 40% higher.
Seems like they are fng over CA residents - not cool. Not doing business with them.

Don't worry, that 40% markup will get a another 10% added for sales tax, while out of state residents pay 40% less with most likely no tax.

LAX ammo, prices so ridiculous that it'll make you want to drive to LAX and take the first plane out of CA.

LAX ammo used to have semiannual parking lot ammo sale.. prices were good and many of us stocked up before ammo background check went into effect.

Anyhow if you didn't stock up and need to buy ammo at current inflated prices, trying ordering online and have to shipped to your FFL for a fee.

I'm pretty sure they have the market cornered in their area and can do this. How? Do they bribe the local gov, do they buy up other startups, do they vote democrat to keep regulation tight?

I know in Sac we have a place called Redline Ballistcs, they sell LAX ammo at the highest going rate.

Maybe when they sell to other states they have warehouses not in CA and therefore not paying our taxes and business fees?
