I bought 10k rounds of 9mm, 10k of 22LR, 2k of 5.56 before 7/01/2019 (background check on ammo purchase). I was in a good shape during the ammo shortage.

Still buying 100 or 200 round here and there in case if there is a shortage again.

OP, it takes some patience but check around and you'll find the big box stores get semi-regular shipment in although the quantities can be small. Then ask around and someone will clue you in as to the best time to be there at door open to get some. It can be a pain but it's doable. It won't be cheap and don't pay too much attention to the comments about waiting it out for price drops, that has been a regular tag line for quite a while, it goes something like just wait....wait and wait some more and prices will come down. Right. There will be some slipping in prices downward if the supply chain for ammo clears up but that won't last long. For some reason with food and everything else going up like crazy and the fed govt trying to spend trillions the price of ammo will somehow be immune and cheap ammo will flow to everyone. Uh huh.

        Aside from that:

I'd rather there be someone who shot 120 rounds in the last 5 years and voting to support the 2nd/A than someone sitting on 5 safes full of ammo that sits on their rear end talking the good talk but can't ever manage to do much more and there are plenty of them around. They don't vote but they count ammo day in and day out.

Newsflash, most gun owners don't sit around counting ammo inventory, fondling their Glocks or getting into another discussion about when to clean their guns. Most have a gun or maybe two and rarely shoot them. Nothing wrong with that and before anyone get their chain yanked, there are probably things you don't do that others would say makes you a cave dweller.
Let Go of the Status Quo!

Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?

Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.

Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.

100% agreed with you on this. Take your time to get to know your guns, practice your stance/breath/trigger pull and the correct way of holding your guns.

I have seen quite a lot of shooters at my local gun range. They burned 2 to 3 hundred of rounds and none of them hit the bull eye at 7 yard (not even close)

Best pricing on 357 is at my local range, 48 cents. I must shoot it all there. Best new in box was at Ammo Bros at 75 cents. I'd love to find some for sale at 48 cents.

I have been looking for some 357 since Covid but no luck. My local range have some, but they sell $1.15 each bullet.
