Let alone that Paypal will not honor or help you when you disclose that you were buying firearm related parts or items.

You had better brush up on your scam capability and savvy .

Oh yeah? You sound very scam "savvy".
Mona Lisa can be stolen from Louvre too, it just needs a myriad of steps.

Do you really think those who are good enough to scam Paypal come here with a 1 day old account and respond to WTB posts?

You'd be amazed how stupid the scammers on the sites like these are. they are just trying to copy what was working a decade or two ago with a very very low success rate. The only reason they are still doing it is because it costs them only a few clicks and less than a minute.

I disagree with the guy who said people are easily scammed.

For me it's just a matter of annoyance and waste of time. Nothing else. I assume it's the same for others in here.

For me a one time $2 payment for lifetime access to classifieds is same as free. Here is a challenge: Try this for 6 months and then compare the number of scam responses to the previous 6 months and let the numbers talk.

If it's only an annoyance for you, delete/report them and move on.

Also, people are incredibly easily scammed. We've had multiple "Help I just got scammed in the CG classifieds" posts recently. Most of the scenarios, frankly, were ones where the CG members should have known better.

Well if you are right and it's so incredibly easy to scam people then the worst thing we can do is "delete and move on"

It's just amazing how negative some of the posters are here and try to rebuke any effort to make this site safer.

I bet you if the owner comes out and says he's gonna charge a small fee to access the classifieds these same people will start praising the idea.

The only issue is that you’re limiting yourself in possibly losing out on a sale of a gun or accessory a contributor member wants but the seller is a member but not a contributor.
I really don’t sell much here anymore. Part of it is the scammer aspect. I have a crap ton of leather holsters, belts, ammo mag pouches and ammo for guns I don’t have anymore. I used to sell a bunch of stuff on gunbroker a while back. I bought some stuff but the members I bought from ALL provided me with a phone number to call and have a conversation.

The best thing is to simply be careful who you buy from.. Low post count, low sale price…Most likely lowlife “member”. And let’s say meet a unicorn….only do face to face sale. Anything that’s long distance unknown seller abd topped off with a unheard of low price…Christ…the Internet has been around and accessible for regular people since the 90s. IF by now you can’t figure out you’re possibility getting scammed…….

Personally I would make the site pay for the fir sale wanted section. I understand and respect Kes’s decision to keep the site free but imes do change. I remember when I first joined CG. It was a very close community. Then..it got bigger and more rude members. I actually took a nice long break.

I don’t think that’s gonna stop all the scams. It may stop the fly by night ones. The best way to stop is to simply be aware of the situation you’re getting yourself in.
