Depends on what the job is for the tool.

Some people only have access to indoor pistol ranges.

It used to be cheaper to shoot. For close range steel it is safer for the steel. It's cheaper to get into instead of an MP5 clone or buying a whole new "PCC", again, cheaper before 2020. More fun for those that can have a semi pistol without a maglock.

I built two. One to teach my kids to shoot an AR. The other is my home defense pistol I keep in the closet.
Both are super easy to shoot.
Both use Hahn mag block in a standard ar lower.
Like other said ammo is cheaper and I could shoot them at any indoor range I happen to go to.

I built one to shoot in shoothouses rated for pistols. They're also pretty fun to shoot.

I've never understood it either. And that also goes for shooting .38 from a .357 anything. As far as home defense goes, yeah I use a 9mm pistol, if I was going with a long gun it's going to be 00 buck.

To each their own however, everyone has their reasons for what they own and use.

It's a PCC with controls you already know. Seems like a no brainer. Really what you are saying is why a PCC. I think the answer is a pistol that is easier to shoot as conceal or transport aren't high on the list.
