The military just adopted an LVPO. I think its the Sig.

Everybody and his uncle wants the latest and the greatest. I'm sticking with my 1-4. It works, weighs only a pound, and I can hit plates at 600 yards with it. I'll upgrade to a 1-8 or 1-10, if I ever compete again. I have no need to sink 2 grand into a 1-10, and use it as a red dot 99% of the time.

I’m so over that. My caseless ammo meted when it got wet.

But I just picked up another Razor 1X6 Gen II E, from Scott at Liberty.

Fast red dot like performance at 1x. The tube almost disappears.

6X rings 16” steel at 700 yards with ease. Seemed like it could hit 10” steel with ease, but I did not have any.

PA GLX 2x for me. LPVO are too heavy and too expensive. No red dots due to astigmatism.

Maybe the recce flavor of the hour is fading into yesterday’s trend…
LPVOs are ok. Not really a fan. I like the Kahles LPVOs and that’s about it. I have gotten away from most Acogs as well. Still love the TA11. Elcan is where the bread and butter is for me and the military reticle not the civilian only ones. I am not a fan of any Razors either. They look cool but for me the reticles suck and they look way out of place on an AR15. For a 308 or larger caliber sure.

People are selling them so they can afford the $3/round ammo.

I just switched from a red dot to a LPVO. Mainly because of my astigmatism, my red dot was bursting too much that it became useless. Picked up a strike eagle 1-10 to start off and if all goes well then I’ll look into upgrading.

Chances are they’re upgrading to higher magnification LVPO’s.

I thought I was getting ahead of the curve back in 2016 when Vortex was releasing the 1-6x Strike Eagle while most LVPO’s were 1-4x; fast forward to 2018/2019 and 1-8x optics were hitting the scene, and this year I just heard 1-10x LVPO’s are the next big thing. If they really want that extra capability at range I wouldn’t be surprised if the folks with 1-4/6x optics are trading up to 1-8/10x optics.

Personally I consider an LVPO the most versatile optic option for an AR still; fixed magnification optics are a bit too limiting, and honestly red dots/holographic sights are something I only tend to use on rifles I don’t plan to shoot past 200 yards with.

A lot of people buy gear…. To fix a marksmanship flaw.

Another friend was Ok shooting iron sights. With his keltec he could keep most on paper at 100 yards…… Ok. He was good at shooting human sized targets out to 25-50 yards with iron sights and could keep most within 2 feet at 100 yards.

                                So 24 MOA

He got a red dot… and guess what… he might have improved to a 20” pattern.

Gear did not fix the fundamental marksmanship issues.

I think a lot of LPVO purchases might be to fix an accuracy issue…

When they don’t hit better, they might move onto the next fix.
