What do you clean with?

I use the Hoppe's bore snakes for all my calibers, quick and very effective - a little cleaner on the brushes and a few drops of oil on the tail then 1 or 2 pulls to clean/lube the bore.

Been using MPro7 cleaner and oil, no smell and works well. The lube seems to stick better than other oils I have used, the AR seems to like it - makes it easier to clean.

My father always told my brother and I to use CLP on all of his firearms if we we took them out hunting or just to the range. CLP has been my go to on all my personal firearms now.

Ballistol for all gun cleaning procedures. I use Bore Snakes on my rifles but still use rods and patches on my handguns.

CLP. Toxicity? I don't know, probably safer than breathing in lead dust while shooting at a range.

Used CLP in military, and have always trusted. I use a grease for storage or for my AK(since I rarely clean AK compared to other guns). The grease I use is Hoppes Lubricating Grease and Sig Spec1 Grease.

The CLP I use is a 20 year old Issued CLP I have some left of (it has **** floating in it lol, don't know what it is), and RadcoLube CLP., which is for cleaning/soaking, and just general lubrication.


The main issue I have is cleaning 22LR. I can't get any brushes into it even if it says 22lr on the cleaning kit. Feels like the bore is smaller than the marked 22lr clean kit.

For those that think their firearm is clean using #9. You clean it then bring it to me and I will show you all that was not cleaned.

Had a friend (old time shooter) who swore by Hoppes #9. Told him to do a thorough cleaning with it, then run a few patches of Boretech Eliminator through. He got several near-black patches followed by several blue patches, and ditched the #9.

On my rifles, I use Boretech Carbon Remover until I get very light gray patches, followed by either KG-12 shortstroked through the bore, or Boretech Copper Remover allowed to sit for 5 or so minutes, until I either get no copper indication or I get bored. Every several hundred rounds I'll give it thorough cleaning with Iosso on felt pellets.

Pistols just get patches of Hoppes #9 (or any other solvent I've got on hand), as I shoot lead exclusively, and am not particularly worried about getting to bare metal on them.
