What do you clean with?

After most range trips it’s a shot of Ballistol in the barrel followed by a patch or snake. Maybe spray down the FCG and then hit it with the compressor to blow out any debris if it’s really nasty.

Grease and/or oil as necessary, depending on the firearm.

An American Gunsmithing Video recommended using Simple Green to clean firearms. I rinse the Simple Green off with water and follow that up by flushing the parts with brake cleaner. For centerfire rifle barrels, I also start with Simple Green, then Wipe-Out and then use Sweet's 7.62 to clean out the copper.

Aside from patches, I have five items in the cleaning bag:

Hoppes's #9, their gun oil, and lots of elbow grease.

About every two years I'll break out the Blue Wonder and really deep clean handguns; I use Sweet's 7.62 on my rifles.

Another Ballistol user here. Don't care for the smell but like the product.

Ballistol for general cleaning.

Wipe Out for an occasional deep bore clean.

Lubriplate FMO-350AW for light lube.

Lubriplate FGL-0 for grease.

All 4 work well and are all non-toxic.

Hoppes, Lucas and EWG. I like Ballistol but it's a Kraut product and it don't feel right putting them on my guns.

I've been shooting a Beretta 92X Performance lately.

Chrome lined barrel comes clean with two runs of a Boresnake.

Wipe old grease off, and apply new grease.

Powder residue wipes off gun exterior. Whatever it's plated with is amazing.

I do this about every 1,000 rounds. Apply a few drops of oil on the rails when they look dry. It's almost as easy as a Glock to maintain (I don't maintain Glocks, so there's nothing easier to maintain than them).

I really like bore snakes to clean and lube the bore. I'll never go back to using the rods we used in the military.
