or a Howa M-1500 with a Nikon Sterling Nighteater scope on it.

I need recommendations between these two guns, plan to purchase tomorrow.

    Thanks,

Saw the Howa M-1500 in 22-.250 today, almost said, "I'll take it."

It was in dark green with the scope to match. The stock was a great rubberized no-slip finish. The barrel was a tad short, maybe I'll go back and snag it.

The action was great, it would make a great varmint gun.

It's been hanging there for a month. The price was right, too.

    Looked like this:

I loved for the Savage. We had a 10FP come through here recently.....boy, is that a sweet rifle.

The caveat being, you won't have money for decent glass.

.308 for caliber. that looks similar to the one I am looking at, except the scope is black.

The crowd says 700P,But with a 1,000 budget this rifle is almost that much. No money for Glass.
I would go with Savage 10FP .308 and have some money for glass.

you can get a tekka in .308 and have enough for decent optics and lunch for 1000. Out of the box it will problly outshoot the 700 and is mag fed to boot.

quick update. I have to have transmission work done on the thunderbird (wont go into third gear, or stuck in second, not sure), so I only got the LCP for now. I am keeping this thread though, because I will still eventually buy the rifle.

              thanks for the input guys.
