    Birthday gun

So, my birthday is at the end of the month, and I will be in Illinois.

I want to get a new gun, but dont know which one. I have a $1000 budget, which has to include optics if its a rifle and ammo for the new one and the ones I already have.

So, help me pick my birthday present.

    Poll to be up soon.

Good ol' 700. not something you always wanna spend 1k on yourself on a random day sometimes. 1911 is an easier buy

I can only vote for what I'd want... but so far it seems to be the general consensus.

looks like you need a 308 but you should up the budget for quality optics

cant up the budget, everything else is going towards the down payment on our house in Florida.

ETA: wow, no love for the Savage.

I vote 1911, only because the 700P leaves almost nothing for optics, base and rings.

                Savage, similiar situation.

                AR, maybe.

1911 you can get a Springfield Loaded, kimber custom II, TLE II, or Stainless II, Smith and Wesson 1911, or a NRM Colt. Those are all pretty good production 1911s.

I'm a shotgun guy so it would be a "none of the above" if it were my B-DAY. Have a good one anyway!

thanks anyway joepamjohn. seems the 1911 is still winning. I will leave this running until my birthday, or the day I go shopping for it, which will be the end of the month. Calguns will decide for me. haha.

You can't even hold a gun if your not licensed. After taking care of buisiness I would buy whatever I thought I would use most. Ammo should factor in also.
