Wait until you get to FL! You'll have a lower sales tax (which means you can get more gun!), you'll have access to guns you can't get here, and you won't have to worry about transporting it either!

That being said, my buddy in AZ who is a huuuuggggeeee 1911 fan, got rid of his Kimber in favor of an STI, which is in about the same price range as you are looking.
I've got to say, after shooting both, the STI was a great choice! Trigger as smooth as buttah!!

      Good luck Jamie!

You definitely need a 308 for your gear list. Get the Savage and then get a Millett TRS-1; it's the best deal on a scope in it's price range:

                  Street price is $275-$350.

A 1911 in the 3.5 or 3" flavor. Kimber Ultra Carry perhaps?

you're not going to get a decent bolt gun setup or AR for 1K (especially when you consider optics)

1K can get you a very fun 1911 however.

At the end of the day, its your birthday... what will make you happy?

truthfully, I wouldnt turn down any gun, but I have those 4 in my sights (haha, pun intended) right now, so I figured to have some fun and let calguns help me out.

OK. after shopping here, I have decided to get an LCP for carry in Florida, for $299, and have a bolt gun down to two:

Savage model 11 with some simmons scope on it

or a Howa M-1500 with a Nikon Sterling Nighteater scope on it.

I need recommendations between these two guns, plan to purchase tomorrow.

                              Thanks,

                              Jamie

What caliber on the bolt gun?
