What happens if you move? Do you need to register your weapons with the state? Nuts.

I had the same problem. Ive own my marlin 336 and my sears 20gauge since 1993 but never fired them. They have been sitting in a gun safe ever since. I recently pulled them out and want to go to a range but could not find ammo in stores. A member beat me to an ammo listing here and he said he sell me the ammo i was looking for. He would only go through ffl which is fine but ive never purchased any firearms or ammo in my life. We met at a ffl and i was rejected. Lol and obviously i went home empty handed.

Had the same problem. You need a CFARS account and the dros info and you can update your information in the system.

The Automated Firearms System is a repository of firearm records maintained by the Department, as established by Penal Code section 11106. The Automated Firearms System is populated by way of firearm purchases or transfers at a California licensed firearm dealer, registration of assault weapons (during specified registration periods), an individual’s report of firearm ownership to the Department, Carry Concealed Weapons Permit records, or records entered by law enforcement agencies.

Which does not need to match CDL address.

Small wonder most of us are becoming outlaws in this state.

CDL has no physical address just PO BOX.

This was on my mind when I voted No Prop 63 in 2016: "Highly unlikely a criminal gonna walk into Big 5 to get some ammo for his next carjacking"

How many federal laws do you see this potentially violating? I count at least 3:

                      FOPA (registration)
SCRA (military orders don't list address of where military lives)
MSRRA (no government issued documents from state of California even though they live in California)

And then there's the good ole 2A, so go ahead and add 42 USC 1983. I hope you guys win the lawsuit pertaining to this issue.

So, the law is working just as intended

                          Sadly, this will get worse.

                            See this:

Does your AFS record change every time you buy or sell? I mean, is it based off the last time you bought or sold in CA? I ask because certain ffls insist I use that address listed on my military orders and certain FFLs insist I use my home address in CA(which I believe is correct).

AFAIK your previous AFS records do not change when you buy or sell. When you buy, another record is added to AFS. As long as one of the records in your name in AFS matches your current ID/address, you should be approved. But I could be mistaken.

You can also log into CFARS and modify one of your past AFS records with a new address if needed.

                                Ok, thanks

The last PPT I did (I was seller), the shop said I needed to keep a copy of the dros so when I buy ammo, I can replicate exactly what they put down for my info.
