Troll or not educated

I read on one of these forums a criminal was shot a number of times before going down. I mean a huge amount of times. One shot was said to stop an inch or more from the heart.

I'm thinking we should be using maximum penetration bullets and forget about all the expansion BS. I've used poly or Teflon coated 9mm. Nothing else I tried could compare to the penetration.

The self-defense ammo should be going through the heart, shattering the spine and through the skull. No failure to penetrate BS. The bullets should be coming right out the other side. You shoot in one ear and it should come out the other.

I would suggest you read about the 1986 Miami FBI shootout.....

it might give you information to help understand what happened when one is shot.




Exit wounds-

Let's discuss Energy KE = 1/2Mass * Velocity squared

Ideally a bullet gets stuck on the far side of the body- just under the skin.
this means the bullet stopped inside and 100% of the energy stayed in the target.



If a 125 grain 357 bullet enters at 1,500 FPS and exits at 1,100 FPS, you have 2 issues.....

A- only a fraction of the energy went into the bad guns tissue and bones...


B- you now legally and Civilly own the liability of that 125 grain bullet moving at 1,100 FPS that exited the bad guy....

Only a complete idiot would make a post like this. I sure hope that you NEVER have to use a firearm in a SD situation and end up with over penetration issues. If you do, this thread WILL come back to haunt you in court. There are too too many people here, with a lot more experience and education on the subject than you appear to have who are giving you sage advice on SD ammo choices.

Who uses 9mm for SD? Anything less than a 50BMG is stupid to use. Personally, I prefer canister rounds out of a 10lb Parrott rifle for SD.

I've always lived where I had to be concerned about a neighbor. Now that I don't it opens up many possibilities. I used to have all my home defense tools except the 12 ga. loaded with Glaser Safety Slugs.
