Actually I believe this response was more about selling your commonly available stuff before leaving to make a few bucks, and replacing/upgrading when you get to free-America.

Need help: I'm moving

I just moved from Socal to South Dakota and I simply rented a trailer, drove out for my final interview, placed in storage. Return trailer. Drive back to California. Finished official move shortly thereafter. Done. I'm confused about this being difficult... I had tens of thousands of rounds of ammo, projectiles, brass, powder, primers, etc...and lots of firearms.

Have a safe or two ready (and bolted, etc.) at your new location, and drive your firearms out to that new place. If you are transporting a good number (100+), it will take several trips, unless you have a vehicle big enough, and reliable enough. I helped a friend move his weapons to Texas; he bought a new safe and installed it as his new place first, then took the first load of weapons, placed them into the safe, and returned. On the second trip, we brought the empty safe and weapons, installed it, then refilled. So now all the weapons were moved.
For the reloading equipment, he had a nice workshop built first, and then moved all that after the weapons were done.
Ditto on a third trip for ammo, which required a 1-ton truck and sturdy trailer.
When the weapons were moved, there was no stopping, except for gas, etc. Two drivers means one can rest while the other drives.Comment
