    Need help: I'm moving

    Howdy,

If things go as planned, I will be moving to Colorado. My problem is now moving my rifles and reloading equipment. Pistols are small enough to easily transport. What recommendations do you have for moving long guns and reloading supplies? I've never done this. Plus, we won't have a permanent home immediately in Colorado. How do I transport and store my firearms?

I suppose it all depends on how you are getting to your destination and how many rifles. My possible plan: Wrap in soft cases or blanket, put in duffle bags, drive car to new destination. If you have to stop bring duffles into hotel room with you, or nap in car.

I know Audiophil offers storage for firearms as a service. Maybe someone in the area has a similar service, or keep them where you are staying temporarily. I suppose it depends on your circumstances.

I'm also interested in others ideas.

I packed rifles in a POD moving and storage unit and brought the pistols with me in a dedicated suitcase that was locked. I buried in the car and always brought it in the hotel.

I personally move all guns, ammo, and supplies with me. Car, trailer, whatever. Policy or not, I don't rely on PODS.

Ditto on the hotel comment above. Bring them inside.

Get a large wardrobe box from uhaul. Get some silicone gn sleeves and put the rifles in the wardrobe box. You can fit over 20 rifles in each wardrobe box. Use towels between the rifles as needed.

It's a good way to fly under the radar. Move everything yourself use a usual trailer, or truck, and pull your car behind the truck.

Store at a local FFL and then ship to yourself once you have your safe setup

Or honestly, sell em all in CA except for your favorites and replace with better stuff when in CO

Can you be more specific? What are we talking about here, like three long guns or twenty? A small reloading press or a full on commercial machine?

You can store them at my house if you would like, That's if I get some privilege's.

That might help. What hotels he plans on stopping at might also help.

When we moved, they were in the back seat and floorboard of the pickups. We had 3 trucks and lots of firearms. When we crossed the NV border, it was a sigh of relief.

If off-roster, you may want to leave the pistols in CA, you should more than cover the cost of new ones in CO.

I'm looking at a move very soon. I've got a literal trailer truckload of just guns and ammo, and I'm putting them in the trailer and making the drive to our new place in WA in a day. I wouldn't trust movers with them.
