Doesn't this require me to transfer ownership to the FFL? I thought in Kommiefornia one cannot be in possession of someone else's firearm?Comment

Thanks. Good idea. Now what about the powder, primers and reloading equipment?Get a large wardrobe box from uhaul. Get some silicone gn sleeves and put the rifles in the wardrobe box. You can fit over 20 rifles in each wardrobe box. Use towels between the rifles as needed.
It's a good way to fly under the radar. Move everything yourself use a usual trailer, or truck, and pull your car behind the truck.Comment

Just box up the remainder of your stuff. Mark the boxes "books".
You can buy the size boxes tou want from u-lime. They will ship the boxes flat to your door. Buy more than you thing you will need. Don't get them to big, as they will be to heavy...Poke'm with a stick!

I made a wood crate, and used bubble wrap for my AR type rifles. Big enough for nine rifles, easily fit in the back of my truck.
Had an old aluminum Army field surgical light kit kit case that held pistols (25 or so of them in various cases). Fit in back of truck easily. Other standard rifles and shotguns in cases, I bought a couple of bargain, large rifle cases that could hold 2 - 4 long guns n s each. Again, back of truck.
Then packed ammo, powder, and primers, all the stuff the movers couldn't take in the back of the truck too.
If you have more stuff than me, it'll be tight. My truck was just an F150 with a 6.5' bed, if I was doing it again, I'd buy a small trailer. Truck was loaded down. Also sell what's easily replaceable. Any standard gun got sold, and replaced or upgraded when I got to my destination.
If you don't have a truck, you're going to need a trailer.Comment

As others have said, fly under the radar. Pack ammo and reloading supplies in U-Haul closet or dish boxes. Reloading press is just tools like a band saw or drill press. Box up and ship with things like that.
I don’t think you said how many rifles. If a handful only, buy a few gig bags marked Fender, Gibson, Martin etc. Nothing’s more natural than a musician bringing his instruments into the hotel with him.
And don’t stay at flea bag hotels to save a few $.Comment

I took a chance and left them covered in our van overnight at the Orleans in VegasComment

Since I had already lost all my guns in a boating accident I just used a really strong magnet and a long roll of paracord to recover them from the lake when I got to Texas. YMMVOnly slaves don't need guns

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Personally i would stick all the guns in gun socks, or wrapped in towels, throw them in the trunk. If there are too many for the trunk, i would rent a locking uhaul trailer. Regardless, I would plan on driving straight through so I can keep them with me at all times.
I’d be a bit less concerned about the reloading equipment and powder. POD or uhaul or whatever would be fine for that stuff, IMO.my Benitez goes to 11Comment

Thinking outside the box a little .... perhaps a one-way RV rental? Do such things exist? I don't know.
That way you could sleep in the vehicle comfortably and not worry about carrying stuff in and out of hotels or having your truck/trailer stolen overnight.
Just a thought.Comment

Rent a U-Haul trailer. Put everything in it. Drive to CO. Rent a storage space. Offload the trailer to the storage space. Pay the monthly storage space rent until you have a permanent home. Then move the stuff there.Howdy,
If things go as planned, I will be moving to Colorado. My problem is now moving my rifles and reloading equipment. Pistols are small enough to easily transport. What recommendations do you have for moving long guns and reloading supplies? I've never done this. Plus, we won't have a permanent home immediately in Colorado. How do I transport and store my firearms?

Youre traveling through 2 red states that don’t care about California BS. Just throw them in their cases and put in your trunk. I did that from northern Maine to California then to Arizona and onto Alaska.Comment

You don’t do any of that BS. California law doesn’t mean jack **** in other states. Period.
He can travel in his own vehicle with his legal free state firearms in free states. They don’t give a crap about guns everyone can own. Been there done that.
You liberals worry to much about traveling with guns in red states. Get out once in awhile or move and experience free states.Comment
