My son and I went to Raahauges last weekend for a round of sporting clays and the rifle/pistol bays were packed with a long line of cars waiting.

I was just speaking to a friend who said guns fishing and other stuff was charging $57 for him and his 15 year old son to share a lane. Needless to say, he said the wait was very short.

Got to give a shout out to bubbles!!!!

OP, is seems with high cost and low availability of ammo, the ranges are not all as overcrowded as the were. That said, there are a lot of newbs with youtube educations. I wear a vest every time I shoot now.

I was at Burro canyon a few weeks ago. Pistol range was packed. Rifle range was pretty empty. I seen the RO's go ballistic on a couple idiots at the pistol range. One idiot went out to change his target while the range was hot.

Seems to be busy up in the bay area...indoor ranges closed, outdoor running at half capacity at best

The one in Vacaville $30 for 2 of us. It's not dead there but haven't had to wait except once when classes took up the pistol side.

I avoid ranges on the weekends, two months ago went to Angeles on a weekday afternoon and not one other person in the entire rifle side as you can see in the picture below. Then went again with my wife last month and only one other person on the rifle side.

A few clubhouses have mentioned they have had their best business since Covid. A lot of new shooters.

Any actual observations? Indoor/outdoor/blm? (Angeles range specifically curious)
You go on a weekend, then you need to get there before they open.

Weekdays (went about a month ago) aren't so bad

The only two indoor ranges I've been to recently were Iron Sights in Oceanside and 2A Sports (new Turner's) in Palm Desert. Weekends at Iron Sights are definitely packed. The Turner's range seems busy on weekends but not crazy waits like Iron Sights. I prefer the nearby blm land though

Oroville was packed two sundays ago. People were parked waiting for a table to clear and some guys brought tables to slip in between the existing ones. I actually got there late ( 7:30) and there were only two table choices when I got there. I was surprised.

Went to a private range last week I belong to. No one there was great.

It is currently raining. Those of you in SoCal who have tons of green tips, XM80C, and other magnetic ammunition should head up to Burro where you can freely expend some of it to confirm zeros and what not..
