It's always crowded when I go these days. Full of noobs trying out their first guns. A little scary at times. You have to have eyes scanning 360 to stay safe.

I envy my next door neighbor who is Army Reserves, they get to shoot for qualifications at Camp Parks in Dublin, it sounded like WW3 over there couple weeks ago.

We have been busy in the Bay Area. We've also lost about half our range capacity with the closing of Chabot a couple of years ago. And yes, we have had a lot(!) of new shooters.

We desperately need to grow the CA shooting/firearms community. In the aggregate this is a good thing. Through no fault of their own though, they are a menace the first two or three times they come to a public range. We were all that person once.

this is not a sentiment that should be allowed.

i can forgive new gun owners not knowing all the lingo or even field stripping their gun for the first few days of ownership, but "to be a menace" at the range, while holding loaded guns, NO.

i don't care if they only owned a gun for 3 seconds or 3 decades. every gun owner should know and follow at minimum the first 4 rules of gun safety.
