Every time I get freaked out or down about the news, I just go to my Happy Place, where my stacks of ammo cans are. I check my written inventories and take it all in.
Sometimes, I'll open a can of 77gr 5.56 SMK and just smell it. Ahhhhhhhhh victory!
When really tense, I'll rock a can of loose pack M193, or M855, just to hear it rattle against the side of the cans filled to the top. Relaxing.
The 9mm, the .45, the 7.62 NATO and crates of 7.62x39,...shotgun shells, .22LR, and even .38 and .380ACP.
It all makes me smile

When I went to Sportsmans Warehouse here in South Carolina on Sunday evening so my lady could pick up her Walther PPQ, I noticed they had some 20 round boxes of match grade .338 Lapua for $120 a box, so if the 9mm is creeping up there close to that then I think you have your answer."There's still crime in the city, but it's good to be free"

1. Treat all guns as if loaded (even when you know they aren't).
2. Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
4. Know your target and what is beyond it (avoid all collateral damage).

I kind of feel sorry for those newbs out there just getting into this hobby. They just didn't know any better. The guys that have been around for a while.. well there's a saying for this that has probably been posted numerous times in this thread!
Whenever I need ammo, I'll load up the primers, powder, bullets, and start cranking away. Happy to have planned for this years ago. Even though my investment already paid for itself years ago, now it's paying dividends!

BTW, I see some people thinking this is a nationwide shortage for guns/ammo and I don't think it is. When you consider Calif. is about 12% of the nations population, and you throw in other gun grabbing states like NY, NJ, MD, CT, CO, that makes about 30% of the nations population. You've got to consider that 1 in every 8 Americans is from Cali and 1 in every 3 is from one of the other states listed, I think what we are seeing is a run on CA roster approved guns that you guys are allowed to buy.
I was at the LGS today to pick up a 9mm Banshee carbine and they're a tiny shop down the street and they were flush with ammo, Glocks in every caliber, and easily had 150-200 firearms on the shelf. They had at least 30-40 Glocks alone in one case.
On top of the carbine and my lady's PPQ, I've got my eye on a H&K VP9 for my new CCW carry that has been in stock at another LGS in town for at least a month now.
Honestly, I think its that everyone in Cali is funneled into a handful of CA roster approved handguns that is creating the vacuum. I mentioned in another comment that I'm seeing Palmetto State Armory raise prices on SW Bodyguard 380s for $100 more than they're worth, whereas off roster handguns like the PPQ and VP9 are in stock and at normal prices here. It's basic economics, one eighth to one third of the market is legally mandated by their state to focus on a certain market of handguns. So with a store like PSA that is a player in the national market, you're seeing intense demand for a handful of firearms that are legal in those states. And I'm not knocking you guys, I had to pay $1200 after DROS/etc. to get my SW MP15 and $800 for my Glock 17 into Cali during the 2013 panic. I know how it feels, especially when I walk into a store here and see a MP15 for $650-$700.Last edited by The Good Doc; 10-06-2020, 1:02 PM."There's still crime in the city, but it's good to be free"

Hey lexicon, I don't need decaf because I have a s load of ammo that I wake up to to start my day off smooth and relaxed. There is a vast difference between aggravation and annoyance. I'm not aggravated in the least cuz I got mine , but I do get annoyed when people start *****ing, moaning, and complaining about things that were well within their complete control but they decided to do nothing about it when the time would have been appropriate to act
I dunno, man. Today I've seen a couple threads you've posted in where you're cussing up a storm and seem quite agitated. Did you ever just think to shrug your shoulders, breathe deeply, and think to yourself that you're fortunate enough to have a sizeable stash and that you don't need to go into Angry Dad Mode about this?
Having a decent stash myself and seeing others talk about not having enough doesn't throw me off kilter, wanting to cuss and go off on other people. Everyone's circumstances concerning ammo are different, ya know? Maybe it was the choice between paying some bills instead of stockpiling. Maybe new tires to replace the worn ones on the truck?
You getting worked up and posting like that isn't going to stop anyone from talking about their lack of ammunition."After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military." - William S. This is Bass Pro in Rancho. The roster for sure is a crutch to the market here.

You think too highly of yourself, methinks. It's your approach to posting that really sticks out here.Good to know I have a fan who's following me on cal guns. If you look at what I've posted on today it was the fact that our derelict Governor told everybody to put on a mask in between bites of food. If you're not cussing up a storm over that one, then I have to question and worry about you. Perhaps I do need a little bit less aggravation, but it seems like you need to turn it up a notch yourself
Honestly, I don't get worked up over things I can't possibly control. Yeah, so the governor routinely makes an idiot out of himself by saying dumb crap like "wear a mask between bites of food." Does it need to ruin your day like this? Just laugh and think, "Sure dude. I'll do juuuuuuuust that." Then continue your routine as normal.
Just food for thought and with this, I'm done."After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it.
