I just took the D3 Haley Strategic vehicle handgun course and I got to shoot my carry 147gr HST out the windshield onto a paper target. Aiming center mass resulted in the round hitting the target in the chin. The bullet deviation matters less firing into the car because of how close you sit to the windshield (compared to how far away someone standing outside your car is to the windshield).

Driver of the truck brake checked someone, who bumped into his truck, then he said he saw the driver of the other car who hit his truck brandish a pistol and rack the slide, so he fired because he thought the other guy would fire on him.

Apparently driver of the truck posted this on social media himself and took an interview with the local news

Maybe descalating by letting the other guy by, or not posting the video publicly then taking to media and giving it to his lawyer and stfu would have been better?

so the truck driver is f'ed.

can't exactly claim self-defense when you brake check someone on the freeway.

I don't think I would fire through a windshield no matter what the situation is. If I'm driving fast, ie 60mph+, losing visibility isn't worth it. For what? Inaccurate fire? Even if they are shooting, they are also in a moving vehicle, their fire will be inaccurate too. Better to drive evasively, get away from the situation. I guess maybe if you are stuck in traffic at a dead stop maybe, but I'm trying to imagine a situation where someone is upset enough to shoot at me where I am not aware of how its escalating, and putting myself in a better position than stuck behind the wheel of a gridlocked vehicle.

I saw a guy driving like that on my morning commute on the Nimitz. I just kept a close eye on him. He went by me at about 90. Then he decided to juke into a lane that a big truck had started to move into. He jerked the wheel, lost control because he was a clueless driver, and I figured I'd get to see a multiple rollover. Instead he just spun out and went sideways at about 30 mph across 4 lanes of traffic. Luckily I was in the 5th lane and drove past as he was stopped. From the look on the idiot's face, the inside of his car probably didn't smell so good.
