    gun collection

    I'm asking for a friend.

Husband recently pass away. Executor of the estate says the collection was appraised at $1,385. There are appx 15 firearms in this collection. I don't know enough about these rifles to know if that is fair or not. I think I see a Winchester model 1890 that should be worth more than $100.

Would you guys be able to identify some of these? She's in Norcal, I'm not, so cant get better pics right now.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Looks like maybe some Remington 1894 action over there on the right. One of those could easily be worth more than that entire appraisal. Get a second opinion from someone that knows what they're looking at.

Hello I will give her $1500 for what is shown right now. She needs someone who knows guns to help her. I would do it if she is nearby North of SF.

Definitely worth more than that. Posdibly a lot more. Hard to say from those picture. You can't buy any functional gun for a $100 these days.
Have someone knowledgable look at them.
If you post make and model, members will give you a good approximation.

That said, do not sell 15 long guns for $1300. That is almost a giveaway.

Whoever appraised them most likely wants to buy them at a nice price. She needs a new appraisal imo.

Even without seeing detailed photos of each gun, that collection is worth far more than the $1300 appraisal.

To put it bluntly, that executor has his head up his azz.

Can't tell what those guns are from the pic, but $1385/15 = $92.33 per gun seems strangely low.

Gunslinger auction is taking firearms for their February auction. Put them up there. Even with commissions it would be much more.

Get someone to go in there and catalog and take pics of each gun. Any college kid can handle this.

Have him log just what is printed on the gun and maybe measure the barrel.

I was at the Gunslingers Auction this weekend. That was here in Glendora (so Cal). Long guns similar to those typically went for a minimum of several hundred each and many into the thousands.

That collection is way too much money to play guessing games with.

Maybe that appraisal was done decades ago.

Even based on the small pictures they're worth far more than $1385. Are you sure the executor isn't lowballing so he can buy them himself?
