    FUD is FUN

I haven't been a dealer for all that long, but one great perk is that I have really had a great perspective to view the tactics of other dealers, especially in the past few months.

Best places are gun shows and gunbroker. Now, at gunshows what I mostly notice is pricing, but I keep that to myself, but last week a seller noticed me looking at his 10 round M1A mags. I had noticed they were priced high, plus I really wanted 20 rounders (in Oklahoma). Anyways, he told me I should buy them before Obama outlaws them. 10 rounders. I laughed out loud.

I an also seeing guys on Gunbroker using HR 45 as a selling point. Now I may be a minority, but I don't think HR 45 has any chance of passing.

We all are aware of the forces that threaten our rights, but I find these tactics comical and somewhat embarrasing. Too bad people are duped by these guys every day. We were all caught up in the mania for a while, but Im tired of people using scare tactics as selling points.

For last 9 years I've been seeing signs that bullet proof vests are going to be banned...it was at a gun show.

Its always been buyer beware - especially at fun shows. Those that take the time to research will be rewarded with knowing what is a good bargin and what is not.

Off topic, the title of your post got me thinking waht fun it would be to join the different anti-gun groups posing as a rabid anti, and issue FUD about made-up pro-gun votes/bills in congress with the idea of having them run in circles crying wolf about non-existent issues.

The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one.

          LOL!

I know exactly who you're talking about. It almost annoys me now seeing those "old" (get it?) cardboard signs on top of the overpriced vests

I to just dont understand that practice. I attend lots of gun shows and always see that s**t and it makes me pissed off. If I hear that stuff I will call the seller out. I dont care what he or she thinks its wroung and unethical. I pride myself and my staff on being honist and up front with all my customers. I might loose a sell over telling people the truth but so be it, its just not worth the profit to lie. Sorry for the rant thats my 2 cents

                That would be fun.

Man, I could go on and on about the HR 45 nonsense. The emails circulating about it are complete fiction. Not saying we should blow it off. By all means, write your Congressmen, but don't lay awake at night fretting about it. Its a garbage bill that has little to no shot.

Plus it has nothing to do with Obama. The bill has been out there since 07 (under a different name). If it is news to anyone then they aren't paying attention. But those emails say its being pushed quietly in the dead of night even though you can read the whole bill on 100 websites.

If it is quiet it is only because it is parked in sub-committee with exactly zero co-sponsors.

Ignorance does not help our cause.

Oh & another funny thing.... Right after the election there was a booth at the show selling "Obama-Tubes". They were capped sections of PVC of varied diameters constructed for the purpose of burying guns and ammo. The side said "Obama-Tube" in red letters.

One of the first money lessons my dad taught me was that a fool and his money are soon parted.

Dealers like this REALLY piss me off! THEY are more of a threat to our rights than Obama is. They're money grabbing, greedy, elitist pigs.

They're no worse than many other salesmen in any other business. For some, it just goes with the profession. They need to feed their families too.

But at what cost? Just dont lie to make a buck. I am not saying thats its not ok to make money, but what the problem is people getting so much bad info it makes it hard for the guy thats got his sh*t together and tells the customer the right info. The customer has no idea what dealer is telling the truth and they both loose the sell. I owned a car dealer for allot of years. The customer will not always buy the best car or jump at the best value, just the one they are most tiered at. I saw it all to offten

I don't suggest that they are all liars. I think many just don't educate themselves and actually believe this stuff, which is worse in some ways. Here is a guy who is a "professional" who heard from a guy that knows a guy and passes it on as fact without verification.

You know its bad when the sham-wow salesmen are spreeding the least amount of FUD at the gunshow.
