but see the criminal doesn't need to turn it in themselves. they can have family members, or friends (that weren't involved) turn it in.You commit a crime. Being a criminal and being aware of your guilt do you:
A. Sell the gun on the black market to another criminal?
B. Get rid of the gun somewhere, throw it in a trash, dump it in the ocean, bury it, etc.?
C. Take it to the cops, presenting yourself and a possible weapon used in crime, without knowing what your fate will be despite the cops' insistence of a no questions asked policy?
Gee, you'd have to be a pretty dumb criminal to try C for a couple of hundred bucks, regardless of how it is being handled.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... Took the words right out of my mouth. I suppose it is just too logical for them to take these guns, grab a booth at a gun show or sell them to a various gun shops FFL's to re enter the legal market with the proceeds going to help pay for these little shenanigans they like to pull on the public dime.
No... that would be just too reasonable. It is in fact more prudent to spend more money having them trucked to a far away smelting plant, protected by a platoon of SWAT the entire time, to be melted into near worthless rebar.Originally posted by orangegloCool...Originally posted by jl123story...Originally posted by dadoodybro...Comment

More calgunners and maybe a lawyer or 2 would solve that problem.

Good grief. I could care less. I wish, really wish, these guys destroying some random turned in guns was even close to the most important thing I have to care/worry about right about now. If this is the worst thing that will happen to any of you guys moaning about this this day/month/year, be happy and dance in the street._________________________________Originally posted by KestryllYou're boned.

Last time I checked, this state was so many billions in the hole, they could sell those guns to law abiding citizens and make some serious $ for the state.
Nope, instead they melt them and dance around wile high fiving each other.Former "Subject" of the People's Republic of California in "exile" in Washington State.Comment

I really don't think that somebody would voluntarilly give up a German Luger pistol, which the anti-gun LAPD beauracrats told reporters is worth 10K on the firearms market. Did they bother to trace this expensive handgun to it's legal owner? Or does it become the property of some crooked official?Comment

Oh sure, imagine the implications of one of those guns being bought and subsequently used to kill or maim someone. That will go down well.
More people are anti-gun than pro-gun and this is a political tool meant to reassure them that the government which punishes them with high taxes has something to show for it: taking "bad" guns off the streets.Comment
