What part of "volunteer" do you not understand? No one forced these people to turn in their weapons. They took the offer and turned in their guns.
For a forum with a bunch of so called conservatives, it's odd to see freedom of choice criticized so much.
Are they your guns? No. Be happy.
You can make the argument that these guns in the hands of the previous owners were a liability to current law abiding gun owners. Sometimes it takes one bullet to change the world.Comment

Nope, they do nothing. And you can't tell me that some of those high end guns (AR, "streetsweeper", 9mm semis, etc.) weren't used in crimes then turned in "anonymously" to avoid being caught and traced to actual crimes. Just another "feel good" measure to make citizens think the gov't is doing something about the LA crime rate

It was voluntary this time. Bad precedent for the future. I don't like them getting the thought in their head they can do this and cheer about it. Looks too much like book burning. How many of those were confiscated? LAPD/SO confiscates guns all the time for any reason or no reason at all and makes it a point to do so. Their brass and unions lobby heavily for every anti gun law ever brought up and they use this sort of stuff as propaganda for it and use media to impose stigma on existing law abiding gun owners and work against us getting newcomers to our side. Again, this is done with the idea of getting the public to cheer this kind of activity.Originally posted by AudihenryWhat part of "volunteer" do you not understand? Again I say make those turds throw their own guns into the melting pot if they're going to melt anyone's. Maybe throw their Hollywood anti gun buddies' guns there too. If they think this is good then make them lead by example. Otherwise they can stick their meltings and burnings where the sun don't shine."You can't stop insane people from doing insane things with insane laws. That's insane!" -- Penn Jillette

people should stand just outside of those buyback places, and offer to pay discount pricing for those guns before they get to LAPD hands.
at least then maybe they can be reconditioned to reselling status, or pawn shop sellers. or if they are really junk, bring it to the buyback hahaOriginally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... I tried that when they did it at the AV fairgrounds the month before this buy back and got run off by police officers telling me it was illegal to do so. I told them I would take them to get PPT and DROS'd but they did not care if it was legal.Comment

You commit a crime. Being a criminal and being aware of your guilt do you:Nope, they do nothing. A. Sell the gun on the black market to another criminal?
B. Get rid of the gun somewhere, throw it in a trash, dump it in the ocean, bury it, etc.?
C. Take it to the cops, presenting yourself and a possible weapon used in crime, without knowing what your fate will be despite the cops' insistence of a no questions asked policy?
Gee, you'd have to be a pretty dumb criminal to try C for a couple of hundred bucks, regardless of how it is being handled.Comment
