    Randall AR15 Barrels

edit: work is complete. 10/10 recommend working with him he did a fantastic job!

So I have an appointment with Randal at 10:30am tomorrow to get my barrel threaded and a pin and weld, but he never sent me the location to his shop

Can someone PM me his location/ phone number because the website address says that's not the shop location and I haven't heard from him in a few days. I would hate to make a 40 minute drive only to have to turn around because of this. Not complaining just looking for some help.

    Thanks guys and gals.

Probably best to email him now with your info asking for the address, so you have it in the morning.

If no reply, don't make the drive. Either wait, or find another guy.

        Send him a email.
I texted a link to this thread to him.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

He told me yesterday he isn't taking anymore work for at least 3 more months (bummer)

Anyways as a backup I found this place that is taking barrel work, just in case you need work done now.

Wait so... no one else in California is doing a pin/welded for 14.5" barrels? Isn't this a super common gunsmithing work?

Hard to find a good FFL yet alone gunsmith. Went to Gun Effects unfortunately they only do light gunsmith work. Went to Riflegear, said it take a month. Come on man, apocalypse will be over by then.

                    That's incorrect.
I am only taking WALK-IN jobs by appointment.
I am not taking any SHIPPED-IN jobs because I have too many here already and I have too many people making walk-in appointments to have any free time to work on shipped-in jobs that are already here.

I am taking appointments as early as next week for perm attach jobs done while you wait.
You just have to make an appointment and come over.

LoL, he is a good guy and that will be the vibe haha!

I told him I worked in a machine shop as a teen and was a welder (oxy acetylene and arc) but had never tig or mig, he set me up and let me have at it while he turned and timed my FAL barrel.

Here is testimony to his work. He looked at the barrel, measured the threads and how it was timed, then cut it to be timed. He even helped pin my stock on my para. All good stuff.
His old skewl lathe is something to behold as well. 50s quality and hands on is something to be appreciated in a world of push button CNC in my opinion.

No *** kissing here, just my impression, amd while I am no machinist, I was around it a long time, can run a lathe (as an amateur) and know what I see.

Funny too, as I set up with his welder, Imhad the mask up, then flipped it down.
He was, “what are you doing?”
I told him I like to set up so I don’t ground before I start and can’t see through the tint.

That was when I learned of the advent of self tinting welding masks lol.

The things they think of these days.

I threw a few good beads too! If I do say so myself

But yeah, Randall’s work, in as much as I know him, is worth more than you will pay.
