    2. Maybe you should invest spending more time reading Calguns vs whining n crying about what prices are going for. Your laziness is not my problem, all the answer are there. It doesn't need a genius to figure out what prices have been sold.

    3. If you can't find your answer on Calguns, there are other websites, auctions, gunbroker, forums that also have resources. Do your own homework!
you must be a genius or not. the whole reason for leaving prices is so we can do out homework. And how does doing research on outside websites help determine a price for California market? Answer it doesn't

      What are your thoughts?
If they sold it for a very different price yet left up the original asking price would that upset you?

Many times the asking price is just that and nothing else.

No not at all. In fact it give me a perspective of what the asking price is and allows me to make a decision on price to buy or sell that same firearm

Imagine you have a Sig P365 and want to sell it. You paid $500 and thinking you could get $800. You do research and find people asking $1500 and see sold listing where they where asking $1800. It gives you an idea where you want to list this for.

I have always been about helping anyone I can. That's what my father taught me. If I come across a person looking for help and I can help them out I do it gladly. I believe it's karma someday someone will help me when i need it.

A waste of Calguns.net resources. I just edit the ad for the last time with "SOLD" in the title page, and 2-3 more times in the ad itself.

I’ve sent PM’s to sellers who deleted the sale price on their ad to ask what it went for, letting them know I have something similar that I plan to list or maybe I want to buy. I’ve always had pleasant responses.

Some people delete the whole for sale ad, maybe they don’t want to leave a digital trail? Not sure.
I do the same. I still wonder about the digital trail, as in wtf? Paranoia?

No bother. There are plenty of other sites to find a good starting price for whatever you're selling.

We get it. You want to hide any evidence of the transaction defeating part of the value of iTrader which requires a link back to the sales thread. In your cases, nothing is shown but an asinine"SOLD." Your prerogative but obnoxious and paranoid. Also, all your edits can be recovered by administrators and law enforcement if sought.

People would search for key words and land on the ad and still message me about it long after it was been sold.

And honestly, most people can only sell so many guns before they hit the statutory limit, so what do they care what you think of their prices? They're selling personally owned firearms. They're not retailers or in the business of selling guns that rely on you to come back for repeat business. I'm not sure what the expectations of tracking "price gougers" is. (Which I'm reluctant to call them that because their only motivation to sell is the current market value due to store shortages. They didn't buy their guns with the intent to wait and flip it to you during a dry spell. That would be in violation of the law by lying on the 4473 form and they would be tying up their own money up front to hold on to a gun to sell to you when YOU need it with your expectation that they sell it at, or below, cost.) So you track these guys. Then what? You refuse to buy their personally owned firearms when guns are selling cheap again? Yeah, that's a burn on them.
It's not rocket science, buddy. No one has ever asked me if this is still for sale and yet all of the original information is retained.

As we know in this market it's so topsy turvy. Wasn't it just six months ago all the posts were "terrible time to sell an AR, buyers market, can get lowers for $40, etc.". So if everyone keeps the prices up and today I list a lower, I'll get bombed with pm's "well I saw two years ago someone up in Turlock sold a lower for $40, so that's my lowball offer." Leaving up past prices only helps buyers who want to shop here like it's a flea market.

Don't even get me started on people who ask a question and then come back and delete their post once they've gotten an answer. This results in a completely useless string of information that nobody else can ever use.

People who do this should be banned.

It doesn't matter what it sold for yesterday, it only matters what someone is willing to pay tomorrow.

The list price on the ad isn't necessarily what's agreed to for the sale. That is private info.

I leave mine up all the time cuz it can help people, one way or the other.

Hate the paranoid deleting of prices

I'll often remove price and put SOLD in it's place to discourage anyone from messaging me asking if it's still available.

If the forum rules indicate we have to leave price up, then I will.

Note: As someone already mentioned, the list price doesn't necessary indicate the actual sell price. This is a gun forum after all, so everyone is lowballing everyone and I'll admit I sold stuff below my list price because I was just tired of back and forth negotiations.

Furthermore, what does it matter what someone else sold something for. If you have a price you want, then list it at that price. If it happens to be less than what you could have gotten for it, should that matter if you were content with your list price?
