Deleting prices

I never understand why someone who list a firearms for sale deletes the price after the firearms sells. They leaver all the gun information but delete just the price. Why don't you just mark the listing as sold and leave it all up? I leave my prices up to help buyer and sellers gauge market price?

What are your thoughts?

Personally, I agree. Providing or leaving the sales prices provides helpful data that should be visible and shared with our community. It becomes a valuable tool when I am either getting ready to sell or bid on an item.

I speculate that butt hurt buyers who overpaid and butt hurt sellers who slashed the price are the most vocal opponents of leaving the prices.

When I was selling ammo pre-FFL transfer law, I hated it when sellers deleted their prices.

Their business I suppose, but it is nice to have some reference prices.

Removing price from the post after it is sold is a useless effort.
I can not think of any good reasons to do so. Just mark it as Sold.

Nothing like having some goob demand to know why you sold X amount of 22LR at 3CPR and now it's listed by someone else at 10CPR or worse.

Definitely Butt hurt sellers trying to hide the fact that they didn't actually get the ridiculous prices that they were asking...

No other reason to delete the prices after the sale.

I too would prefer prices were left as reference.

I think it’s because taking the price out is the fastest way to stop inquiries.

A few times I have been think about selling " X "
So i start looking to see what others have sold " X " for

Price deleted

Some times I send a P M to politely ask what they sold it for
Some reply ..... most don't

Don't understand what the big deal is
Do they think IRS is after them ?

I like to know the selling price, but every transaction is different. Everything is only worth what the buyer is willing to pay. God knows I've overpaid for something I've wanted. Patience isn't a trait of mine.

All that's posted is the asking (starting) price, what someone actually paid is a assumptive at best. But yeah, I think they should leave it on there too.

When an item is sold, I will change to subject line to SOLD and the body of the add gets SOLD as well with no other info. Why? Because I don't need anyone to see what is bought and sold by me and when looking at my adds, I can quickly see what is still trying to sell.
Its not my job to do YOUR homework.

Bc people don't want to leave an obvious digital trail of how much they sold a firearm for. Makes sense to me.
