Raytheon is the ultimate in woke hypocrisy. Basically a defense contractor making millions off of gub-mint contracts with many products meant to kill other human beings. They then give you smack about talking about guns??!!! Phuck them. I’ll piss on their grave some day. I sold all my stock when I heard they had gone woke (which means they will go broke).

I had just read this entire thread and was getting ready to post that I think they'd have found some reason to fire you just ahead of you getting to retire. It was pretty obvious that they were "keeping score" and that you were on your "second strike". All they would need is some flimsy reason to send you packing just to screw you out of retirement.

After you've been settled into your new company and job, I would look into having the old one pay you for your uncompensated overtime. Do it as a nice little going away present to them.

Listen in on someone else's conversation on blm and report it to hr and say it how it makes you feel uncomfortable as they rioted and took over city block by force and you don't want that to happen here.

Other than the look for another job, this is terrible advice. There is no free speech at work, the first amendment only applies to the government.

Years ago, I worked at a California defense/aerospace company and some of my fellow friends and acquaintances at the company were gun owners and there was even a gun club along with other recreational association clubs for employees at the company.

Times have changed...maybe because of work place violence and mass shootings. People seem to be more on the edge, uncomfortable, or even alarmed with any mention of guns in certain environments and many companies have taken so called "socially conscious" stances, grouping guns in America as a societal problem.

But snitching on two people casually talking about firearms, I wonder if that is a California Raytheon thing? Raytheon has a lot of facilities in the Dallas area. In fact, I can remember one facility where there is a gun range across the street. Given Texas's gun culture, I wonder if such a conversation around the water cooler would even raise an eyebrow there. However, now days, I'd keep my ownership of firearms to myself in the work place. It is not forced suppression of my freedom of speech, just no one else's business to know.

Google is another workplace where the kids initially thought good idea to allow employees to discuss politics. Well when one employee expressed his conservative opinions he was fired very publicly too. So what started as simple-minded intentions turned into purge class struggle sessions. At my work, I auto delete any and every HR woke emails. Our VP likes to write his woke crap on MS teams, I just mute him.

It's partly the company, but it's also the location of your office and the department you work in that's the key. I've worked different locations in the same corp environment before and that's been my experience. In a gun-friendly state, gun talk at the watercooler is ok. In California, it's completely verboten. This was at a fortune 50 banking institution.

A short story:

About a year ago a co-worker and I were talking about firearms (totally innocent). Apparently, someone was eves dropping and snitched to HR. We were both told to not talk about firearms at work because we have to respect others feelings and that it is insensitive. Fast forward to June 17 this year. We all received an email about racial injustice cuz, you know, rioters. There was a discussion forum and employees were invited to voice their concerns. As I was reading the comments I noticed employees wanting to get my employer to financially support the BLM organization. I decided to add my voice against that idea, and I posted a video of the BLM marchers chanting "pigs in a blanket fry 'em like bacon" which is anti-Police, in addition to stating it was Marxist and bigoted. So now, two weeks ago, HR contacted me and said my video was removed because it was inappropriate. They said they would investigate and let me know if there was any disciplinary action. Today, I got the final call. They told me that my posts along with the firearm discussion I had with a co-worker raised a red flag. I had somehow violated the code of conduct (how?), and that I need to be refreshed about what is expected of me at work. I still have a job, but I don't really feel like busting my butt for them anymore. I hate having to sit there and take this kind of crap from ignorant totalitarians. But, until I have another job, I can't do a thing. Obviously I'm not gonna get involved in any employee discussion forum. Anybody have a similar experience with free speech at work?

There is an epidemic of this SJW, anti speech, anti dialog agenda, being led by colleges where being a republican or not following the America bad narrative is outlawed.

Our book of the month club is reading No Safe Spaces by Dennis Prager. He has devoted a couple of chapters to the institutionalized protocol of eliminating all speech that doesn't conform to the democrat agenda of eliminating all rights, in favor of a Marxist society that features, poverty ,repression and murder.

While I have no advice on how you can have a sensible conversation at work . I would suggest you join Patriotic groups that reflect your views of unalienable rights, liberty and greatness of America.
The NRA is one such group and I suspect you might be a member already. If not join when you can.

For the immediate future, think along lines of self employment, another job, wise investments and of course watching your back at work. if you can identify others with a similar mindset, that will help.
Of course getting books on your phone or laptop will might help you pass the free time at work and help you avoid dealing with people who are nothing but petty brainwashed sheep.
