Yup- you already know what to do. Stick to business and don't let anyone provoke you into expressing your opinion on anything remotely controversial. So you lost a couple of battles- so what. Win the war by keeping the paychecks coming and retire on your terms at the time of your choosing. Good luck.

Quote, "Anybody have a similar experience with free speech at work?".

I was in construction and we had nothing but free speech. You could speak your mind anytime with no apologies to anyone as long as you could back it up if you had to. In the old days that could, and sometimes did, lead to blows being thrown. What we didn't have was political correctness, sensitivity issues or any confusion about either of the two genders. And, almost everyone I knew owned guns.

In this climate, if you are a 2A supporter, conservative, and male, you have a target on your back. I have learned to keep quiet and not voice my political views at work. We are in a time where anyone can become triggered for any reason and there goes your livelihood.

They can't fire you for what you think, but they can make your life miserable for what you say.

        1. Treat all guns as if loaded (even when you know they aren't).
        2. Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy.
        3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
        4. Know your target and what is beyond it (avoid all collateral damage).

Sure they can. They just did. And they'll do it again.

It depends on the company. The ones I represented, major aerospace companies, always fought, and almost never paid anything.

If he sues, he better make a killing because his future at the company is zero.
Interesting. I guess it made more sense financially to fight... Otherwise, I can't imagine why they would.

Seems OP's days with his company are already limited. But I suppose I'm just assuming.

A few years from retirement, go work with a smile, be nice to everyone and leave with a smile. Unless you want to retire early. Once you're over 40 you are kind of old which leads to some things you can get the company for.

When I was working I got called to HR for saying "sloper". HR said, that's a racially insensitive word for Vietnamese people.

I said, hey racist, sloper is somebody that works on the North Slope in Alaska, and here's a picture of my Filipino wife.

                            They dropped it.

I am also an attorney and have done some employment discrimination work, and I fully agree with Citadelgrad87.

Based on what the OP has written, he is being discriminated against based on political beliefs. This is not an actionable category of discrimination.

The best thing the OP can do is, stop discussing issues that are conservatively oriented. Look for another job, and leave on his terms.

His company may tout that they are "All American" but the proof is in the pudding. They are "All American" in words only, which is enough to continue getting lucrative defense contracts. Hypocrites must be running this company.
