    WTB Posts

    Hey guys,

As I peruse some of the posts, many members are looking for certain guns but mention they will not pay “Covid premium”. Not saying that they should, but doesn’t this tie into supply not meeting demand, hence no premium exists, in the case for on roster guns and prices are adjusting accordingly?

Just something I’ve observed to the flip side of some of the “why so expensive” threads a while back.

    What say you...

You can see from my WTB, that I’m both aware of the shortage of the item and willing to pay a premium to get it.

Those who want something but are unwilling to pay the premium, are in essence saying “I refuse to pay market value”. They’re entitled to say it, and they’re entitled to bump their unreasonable listing indefinitely.

"Market Value" is a lie. It's a made up term to try to justify greed and opportunism in selling items.

Not going to argue your comment...but...

What happened to willing seller and willing buyer?

I believe that is what is called...the market...no?

prices reflect what are available out there. since the supply is less than the demand, no pay covid fee no gun for you.

I'd love a gen 5 Glock MOS. Do I expect someone to sell it to me for actual retail cost? No. Scamdemic or not, that isn't market value for that gun in CA. Were those charging $1400 for VP9s before the pandemic opportunists?

As much as I'd love many off-roster guns, they are not worth the premiums to me... but many people feel differently, as we can see. They set the market value.

If I ran a WTB ad for a gen 5 G19 right now, but said "won't pay off-roster or pandemic premiums" how successful do you think I'd be?

I have A WTB ad up right now. I'm willing to shell out a little extra for a Covid premium, but that kind of cost is completely subjective.

I don't include anything like that in my ad because I'll just wait to see what the seller has and what they want for it. If it's too steep, I'll say thanks for reaching out but I'll pass.

"Market Value" is not made up. It is a core value of the capitalist system. Use TP as an example. In Russia they stand in line for hours to buy their allotted roll for a state set price. Even though there is a shortage you can't resell your roll for a profit to someone who doesn't want to wait in line. Here there was a shortage on store shelves but plenty of people willing to sell their stash for a profit. TP had a "market value" way beyond it's normal selling price.

Lol @ people with WTB ads unwilling to pony up. I want a P365 for $600 but I'm also based in reality.

                      It goes both ways.

I see a lot of BUMP's for Seller posts with stupid prices. If someone was willing to BUY at the price they wouldn't have 20 bumps.

WTB folks on the other hand are at a disadvantage, and price themselves out.

A seller at least can bump his posting with incremental price reductions until it sells.

Now, the WTB poster is also the lazy buyer and looking for a seller to COME TO THEM. That's not how the market is working right now.

What would be nice is a general price that folks would be willing to pay. Damn waste of time when the "buyer" is looking to buy at 1999 prices, or lead with the nonsense of "it sells for this much on GB"...

                          Reasonable people are out there.

                          A year ago I got a G43 for $650. Still a premium over MSPR, but not $900.

But I POUNCED on it within half an hour, and was FOURTH in line (lots of flakes out there).

I also see more than a few sellers with minimal $100-$200 premiums and within 15 min. POOF they are GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, this is not really a market to "get rich" but a great market to finally get rid of things I've been having trouble getting near my asking price for.
