This is what used/new Scars go for outside of privileged California.

Glocks are $300-$400 out of state as they should be. Glocks for me have always been the Hyundai of handguns.

    I can go and on.

The truth is ammo is not in short supply where I purchase ammo and we pay free state prices for firearms. This is precovid and during covid.

I don't give a **** what the demand is in California. If you continue to pay stupid prices for ammo or a firearm then that's on you. Unfortunately folks will continue to charge you $2000 over retail and some dumb schmuck will continue to pay that. Sad.
If one has an issue with the framework that people are operating within, then you should work on the framers (California legislature). If individuals are optimizing their efforts within a framework, who are you to say they are wrong?

        Just a thought
There is a market demand out there regardless. Just because one might show camaraderie doesn't mean they need to hand over the premium benefit to someone else merely to let the next guy flip it themselves. Now, a personal friend, in "need" of a firearm............ I'd hook him up at a friend price.

Similarly, it's the manufactures that are not picking up the entire benefit of the demand of inventory already out there. Is anyone sharing the profits of a $800 Gen3 Glock with Glock themselves.

I mean really, I think Glock themselves should jack up MSPR to $800+ to common models.

When Glock sales a pistol for $400.00, you know they're making bank (volume sales) or it would be priced higher. If they raised their prices, the competition would kick their butt! If the competition raised their prices also, some poor joe would complain and price fixing would be charged and the gov. comes in.

Without looking at their financials, I'll bet Glock makes the lions share off of government and military contracts which usually include very lucrative service and training programs as well as the actual product.

I mean if a guy has a Glock 19 gen 3. And he was going to go and sell it. If he's charging $100 above what he paid for it I get it. He had to pay taxes, dros and He had his personal time and effort to go down to the FFL pay for it Wait 10 days and then go back again. I understand your time is worth money. but when people sell things or attempt to sell them for double the original price, that's an issue.

I wouldn't even entertain anything like that. All that does is feed the monster. Capitalism is one thing, but I don't think capitalism was ever based on 2,000% markups.

The same kind of people who at work would stab you in the back without a second thought if it benefited them.

Absolutely true. The person who tries to fleece or bleed dry another person in need is the same mentality. The co-worker who would automatically throw you under the bus if they thought it would get them ahead.

I saw one or two people like that in my working career. Like Piranhas, looking for blood in the water so they could attack.

A little money on top is understandable. A hundred bucks for time and effort, I get that. But as I have said before, nobody with less than 200 posts or 6 months here should ever be allowed in Marketplace. In fact it should be reserved for members who pay a membership fee to access it. That would eliminate almost all the vultures and others who seek to only use this great forum for personal gain.

                      Another bottle neck are FFL's.

Otherwise there would be a lot more free movement of commerce in regard to firearms. I suspect face to face transactions in other states without need for FFLs helps press down the prices.

Additionally the 5 transaction limit here in CA is bumping up prices as well.

It would be impossible for many of us to divest ourselves of our entire inventory. So while person "A" might be sitting on several firearms he can't move them regardless of how cheaply he wants to relative to person "B" that now gets to charge the world.

I have only two more transactions I can do this this 12 month period. So it minimizes what I'm willing to sell and causes me to take into account other decision factors.

I see nothing wrong with current prices in the marketplace. People are flush with money right now. Whether it be unemployment money or working crazy overtime, you can't go out and spend money at closed businesses. My family has saved untold amounts of money eating at home these last 4 months. My wife has been to Starbucks less than 10 times, when normally she's there everyday. With this extra money, we've bought some luxury items; workout equipment, a new TV etc. The guy that's willing to spend a thousand bucks on a Glock is happy to get it at all. If he ends up needing it in an emergency, then a thousand bucks is a small price to pay.
