Marlin model 60 .22 in stainless and wood stock and a chintzy silver scope - from Walmart a few days after my 18th birthday. Used it as trade in a few years later.

First gun ever bought

I wouldn't mind selling my 500s for that LOL
Have all 4 first ones I ever bought myself. Ruger 10/22, CZ SP-01 tactical, Mossberg 500, and Chiappa Rhino. 10/22 and 500 could go as I have nicer duplicates, but the CZ and the Rhino would be a little harder to part with.Comment

Still have my very first, Remington 597, even though it's not a very good gun, I know it now, what ammo it likes and how to maintain it. There are times when I have thought to myself, should have bought the Ruger 10/22 like everyone else...Comment

1st rifle Marlin 99 bought it in 1968. First handgun Colt Trooper also bought it in 68 - last year before the Trooper III. Still have both. My first shotgun was a $39 single shot break open. Sold it to a friend when he got out of the Army. He cut barrel to 18" and made it 26" overall. Kept it behind the seat in his truck. He worked evening and graveyard shifts in a real bad neighborhood. I replaced it with a Remington 870 when our daughter was born in 1972. $$ was a little short but you can't have a daughter and not own a shotgun. I still have all 3.Comment

Mine was a Colt Trooper.6" Nickel. Bought in about 1979. I kept it in a custom Oak Presentation box on my bar at home. One day a coworker was over and he started throwing $100 bills down till I said take it (I think it was 8 of them). Well I missed that gun terrible and 10 years later, I stumble into a local shop and there was a brand new one in the case. Colt had already ceased production of these and the one in the case was from an estate collection. I got it for $260...NIB with all the box & papers. The one in the photo is the 2nd one.. serial number is about 20 away from my 1st....not for sale guys.Last edited by beerman; 03-06-2022, 10:48 AM.Comment

Mine was a Daisy break barrel air rifle.
My brother and I killed many birds with it. When Dad saw how many birds we killed, he made us feather, cook and eat the birds, no matter how tiny they were.
We stopped killing birds for fun after that.

Wow. A lot of big guns as "first guns" for you guys.
My first handgun and first rifle were 22 lr. I got shamed by several old-timers when I was at my local gun store, looking to buy a centerfire rifle or 1911 as my first gun; they all told me to put my ego aside and start with a 22. Turned out to be damned good advice.
I still have both, and used them to teach my son how to shoot. He's now a teenager and wants nothing to do with 22 lr, and is only interested in military guns. I use the 22s way more than he does!Comment

1981 or so, Monsen made Dan Wesson 15-2 VH, still got it, will never sell it.
First rifle, 10-22 natch, i have replaced every part other than the receiver, but I still have it, and first shotgun was an H and R "Topper" 16g. Still got it.
