I have one as well. Yes you could rip it off the wall, even if was secured to wall studs. But the gun would be inoperable, unless they were somehow able to pry open the clam shell.

I don't see this type of product to prevent theft, or damage to the firearm. It keeps it accessible to you, without the worry of kids, house guests, and burglars from easily getting quick access to an operable firearm.

Anyone swap out electronic locks to a simplex lock?
That is a project I would be interested in . just a quick look and it would not be simple, but might get out the welder and give it a shot someday.

I use a shotlock for 12ga in closet. Yes it can be torn off tge wall with effort. If im leaving house long term i put shotgun in safe. Its more for kids and dumb "adults". I also have a nightstand mounted simplex handgun safe with g19 and mounted light. Again.. not burglar proof but kid and dumb adult proof.

If you ever do the project would be extremely interested in seeing pictures and reading the results. Thanks in advance

Another vote for V-line and Amsec. I have several of each that I use for the stuff that might need quick access. Everything else is in a real safe, and when I leave for any extended period I empty the quick access boxes.

@Skyhawk: Which models for V-line and Amsec have you tried successfully? Trying to also learn more about any concerns or problems others experienced before picking one up. Thank you!

Agree 100% on Simplex. I have a Stealth for my HD G17:

Stealth Original Handgun Safe Mechanical Pistol Box Heavy Duty Gun Storage STL-PB-HD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UIKSF54..._yJksFbABM5SRX

Feature set edged out the Fort Knox for me. It has been perfect so far.

I’m also searching for the exact thing you are, so this is a great thread! I’ll definitely be looking at the V-line. My current front runner is a bit beefier than the V-line, but sadly not simplex:

The Stealth EGS14 Essential Gun Safes have added security & utility features most entry level safes don't. A molle door panel organizer to move around pistol holsters & storage pockets around to best fit your needs, comes with a 30 minute fire rating, is a CA DOJ Approved firearm safety device, interior storage shelves, power outlet and lifetime burglary & fire warranty.

Would be interested if anyone has experience with it, or a simplex with more capacity, thicker gauge etc.

I have several brands of simplex lock safes. The Ft Knox is by far the best

@ Sharki: Like yourself considered the Stealth STL-PB-HD but the handle design-wise made no sense to me. I do not want this to be every be easily removable. I like the size of your Dean Safe but would avoid solely due to the electronics. Let us know if you consider another manufacturer by updating us in this thread. Thanks!

@ Oldmandan: Want to get more handgun Simplex Mechanic Lock safes and the Fort Knox (FN) and V-Line Brute are tied in consideration for first place. Do you mind sharing your experiences with us (cons/concerns) for the Fort Knox handgun safe? Did your model experience the Simplex button cut issues reported a few years back? Or did you buy a more recent model where the issues was fixed? Did you ever use the warranty and if so how did customer service treat you? Repeated read how the lifetime warranty is bogus because the customer service is not good and FN does not honor certain conditions (just a refund not repairs given). Thank you for sharing.

Can other CG members share performance reports, problems, warranty/customer service experiences for owning any other Simplex Mechanic Lock safes (regardless of size)? Please list the manufacturer and model to help us follow the same specs. Thank you!

                      1) Can the CG community recommend companies that specifically sell wall/closet mount or underbed safes, using fast opening Simplex Mechanical locks? I firmly believe the Simplex locks (e.g. https://www.ftknox.com/product-category/pistol-boxes/ ), are more dependable than all electronic locks/RFID readers. I am looking for safes that can fit two long guns and two to four handguns, either underbed or upright secured to a wall.

                      2) On a related note, has anyone ever bought a safe such as one of the following sized safes:
                      a) https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/p...safe-model-47/
                      b) https://monstervault.org/original-underbed-safe
                      c) https://www.hornadysecurity.com/rapi...r-gunlocker#!/
and modified it from the factory installed mechanical lock, to a Simplex lock? Would like to hear about your experiences.

                      Thank you in advance!
Fort knox sells a pistol-sized box with a simplex. Mine can hold two or three pistols. Once the code is entered you turn a knob and the access hatch opens on gas struts.

I have the shotgun wall mount lock from Shotlock. They also make handgun and AR wall mount locks too.
AR one seems legit too bad it won't fit a fin grip or i'd be having one delivered.

I love simplex locks. I don't even bother to write down gate codes for buildings with Simplex locks.

Hit the four shiny ones or the four dirty ones. Order doesn't matter.

I have a FT Knox controlled access box that I use out side of a safe. It fits 4-5 handguns and 1 AR (broken down). No problem with the simplex lock after 3 years. Very happy with it.
