Cause gun people are rational about what companies they like? Like the cats spending $2k on a Colt 1911 with crap sights, no BTGS, and dovetails that work for nothing else?

Serious competition shooters toss the internals and basically buy the gun for the frame and slide. And they're not lining up to buy Springfield Armory guns, they generally go with the STI, SV, or any number of other custom guns built by shops specializing in their particular game.

Springfield Armory makes price-point guns, same as Kimber, Glock and all the other mass producers. Their QC is a joke, and dudes line up for the free customer service on a $500.00 gun they paid $900.00 for.

The XD and it's descendants are the only guns from Springfield Armory that you don't hear people talking about getting great customer service on, mostly cause they run and don't need customer service. The one gun Springfield doesn't manufacture, go figure.

I've owned an XD, it had no issues. Had three 1911s, one was ok, other two were poorly fit rattlers. Had 3 Kimbers, they were all acceptable, much tighter, smoother, and less sharp edges than the Springfield guns. Got one Springfield, & one Kimber remaining.

You noticed a box of Ivory soap in the background? All i ever noticed was......well......nevermind

This whole SAI hubbub was discussed ad nusium on the M14 Forum a few years ago when it was going down live, SAI heard mightily from the M1A crowd quite loudly and clear, we like to think it influenced the management over there, we do have several good forged options in the M14 clone world today, so do the 1911 and plastic frame guys and gals...Sometimes a little timely pushback goes a long way, unless you’re Benchmade and HQed in Antifaland (in other words, it can be effective, but not always).

We were discussing $900 Springfields, not $2000 Colts. Red Herring much?

My point is that the $2,000.00 Colt I described is a $600.00 gun some dope was willing to overpay for.

                  Exactly my point!

All these vociferous for the 2nd amendment flag wavering chest thumping patriots, yet would support a company that undermine and continues to undermine the 2nd amendment they claim they are for because " they like the product " just don't make sense.

Its like saying we don't like the hypocrisy and politics of the Democrats, yet keep on voting for the party because it has a candidate that they like. They are helping the enemy.

It's not that simple either to condemn or to exonerate the company in this case.

They have to stay in business and the reality is that they are in a state where the politicians can do a lot of harm to their business on a whim. It's not their choice to look for carve-outs, it's the necessity. Reminds me of the cowboy shooters when it comes to roster in CA. Are they the enemy? Or are they optimizing a bad situation that is beyond their control? Maybe a little bit of both... Not as clear cut. I prefer people with spines, but I also prefer people stay alive during adversity. Tough call.

Damn, I never thought that my Colts would be worth 2,000 dollars, I paid less than 1/2 that for each. I'm taking my Defender lightweight to a dealer Tuesday and sell it on consignment. Now I have to decide which of the other two Colts to keep and shoot the stainless or blue Govt. The other I can get 2,000 for as new in the box.

Still a red herring. Nothing of any substance to comprehend. And when all you have left is ad hominem attacks, it is pretty safe to say your entire argument has run out of gas. Best to just let it go.
