    What did Springfield Armory do?

I keep reading on gun boards that SA did something having to do with anti-gun law here in the US that pissed a lot of people off, but I can't seem to find anything that recounts what happened.

Any articles, or sites, or ..... ?
Now my mind is filled with rubber tires, and forest fires
    And whether I'm a liar,
And lots of other situations where I don't know what to do,
At which time God screams to me "There's nothing left for me to tell you."

The gun community felt betrayed by Springfield Armory's supposed deal with the IFMA. Let's look at that now that things have changed.

its been a hot topic for several months if not years. Plenty of printed articles too. I am just lazy to look it up. But you should be able to do it on your own. Even you tube has several.

It was quite slimy what Springfield did (the powers that be) not the ordinary gun assembler. And when the public found out, the CEO offered a lame apology. Then Springfield raise its prices across the board. Another slime move.

Its like raping the public twice..... and the fan boys rewarded Springfield with more sales. " You be the judge ".

As is Springfield's attempts at copying guns or importing a decent foreign gun and slapping their name on it.

A while back, I picked up a used Springfield 1911. It was abused by the former owner who somehow got it to rust and the barrel looked like a sewer pipe.. I contacted Springfield to see how much it would cost to get fixed.

                They paid for the shipping.
                The installed a new barrel.
They tuned it up and replaced some parts.
They lightened the trigger pull for me.
                No charge.

They helped write and pass anti 2a laws that would only benefit them and rock river arms in their home state.

They did something anti-2a like every other gun maker has done at some point. So they are getting hate for it. Just buy a gun from them and enjoy it. They make/import good firearms.

Not true!! Not " every other gun maker " has done what Springfield did.

Remington, Marlin, Kimber, Colt, Para Ordnance, RIA, Beretta, Browning, FNH, Sig, CZ etc. etc. have not committed such a despicable act..........so far.

                        From above link;

Small dealers who sell less than 10 guns per year and big box stores were exempt.
The Illinois Firearms Manufacturers Association (IFMA) also received an exemption, as long as the group withdrew its protests of the bill and did not oppose it. This means that Illinois firearms manufacturers are exempt from the licensing requirement.
Sounds like the "IFMA" took a few lessons from the LE Unions in CrapOfornia.

With the caveat that, instead of going with the flow from their Association Negotiated carve out.

SA and RR stepped up, denounced the deal, and broke ties with their Association.

EDIT...........And BTW SB-1657 and HB-1273. Narrowly passed both houses [Demrats] and were vetoed by the Gov. Which neither house could overturn.

Thanks to your continued efforts contacting your elected officials, anti-gun senators were unable to gather enough support to override Governor Bruce Rauner’s veto on two bills that would have driven your local gun stores out of business with onerous red tape and regulations. Your NRA would also like to thank Gov. Rauner and the legislators who stood strong in defending the Second Amendment over the course of the past year against these poorly thought out pieces of legislation. Please take the time to thank your state Senator who voted against Senate Bill 1657 and House Bill 1273. Click the “Take Action” button to contact them.
