Yeah MOS is a pretty poor implementation of a universal optic mount system. I think most problems are with the plates though and that is now addressed by the aftermarket.

Wow yea that makes a lot of sense on the mags. So just a standard gen 5 G19. No MOS? I can just add a adapter plate if I want to add a red dot.

I have a 17 and a 26. Can use the 17 mags in the 26. I thought I needed a 19, bought one and sold it a month later. Had the worst attributes of both the 17 and 26, and it pinched my pinkie every shot. But, I still have a couple 19 mags that I use in the 26 with an X-Grip.

If you want to add a red dot later, just buy a precut slide. Adding an adapter plate to a regular slide is worse than MOS.

It seems I can't add much of substance but perhaps someone can answer a question for me. I read a paragraph-long joke about the odd numbering of Glock models awhile back. It was after the Glock 44 (.22) was announced. It rambles on about how the Glock 44 is a .22 but the Glock 22 is a .40, while the Glock 45 is a 9mm, etc. I found it really funny but have not been able to find it anywhere, although I thought I saved it.

MOS for sure. You will always have the option of going red dot if you want. If you have a non mos slide then younhave to mill or buy a new slide.

                  For carry, G19.

                  For range/training, G45 MOS.

Yea I’m liking that G26 with the Xgrip. My buddy is running G17 mags on his G26 with a xgrip. It actually looks pretty good

I recently acquired a 48 and I love it. I lost the first joint of my trigger finger years ago, so I need a slim single stack in order to get a good reach to the trigger. Shield makes a 15 round flush fit mag for it, but being stuck in CA I can’t have one.

I think that has to do with the patent numbers involved with each model. The G-17 was Glock's 17th patent, G-22 was their 22nd patent, etc. Specific caliber/marketing is evidently not a consideration for them.
