Every month when I pick up a new gun I buy three or four boxes of whatever they have in stock in the calibers I own. It is added to the gun invoice so there's no additional paperwork.

If you are looking for cheap or bargains at this time you missed the boat. If you need it and are otherwise unprepared, then buy what you need and pay the price.

Being caught nearly flat-footed during the run on ammo after Sandy Hook, I began buying a few boxes every week as availability and funds allowed.
One thing that helped, being an OTR truck driver, was that I passed 4 Cabalas (pre Bass Pro) twice each week. So I slowly built up a good personal supply over the course of years. I bought reloading supplies to.
So I shoot the new, then reload the brass. While still buying more new when convenient.
Now I live in AZ and my new route doesn't take me by any Cabalas or Bass Pro, and there are none locally. My LGS is closed on my days off so it has become planned special trips into town.

I purchased ammo when it was legal to buy it here from out of state. I suspected it would change and it did.

After sandy hook I decided that I never wanted to have to buy another round of ammo in my life again.

Cary ammo aside, I think I have made it now.

I have dies and components for guns I plan on buying some day.
